Let's hope we carry on what we started yesterday and see some of our top order find the form and confidence they will need in the remaining games

Keep batting, if possible.

Steady as she goes today I hope.

I shall relax only when we pass the follow on mark and have 5 batting points in the bag.

I was there yesterday. An excellent days cricket. We are still a long way from safety and you can't expect us to be rescued by our tail with such a big deficit so the stage is really set for our top six to do the business. There were signs in the last game of a return to batting form for Bresnan of course so can hope for a good return from our top six.

If I were a Surrey supporter I'd be questioning why they invested in two domestic batsman (Stoneman and Borthwick) plus Sanga when what they need on that pitch is X factor bowlers. I thought their young left armer looked the most threatening and certainly out bowled Batty. His high release point will make the most of any unevenness in the pitch and one or two did keep a bit low.

Not there today but hope for a good one.

From across the River: its cool/cold, overcast but dry and quite breezy.

Wrap up warm if attending!

Very tough luck for Alex Lees there, who has been the best batsman on show this morning and was caught brilliantly off a fierce sweep. Oddly, Lees has played beautifully when I've seen him this season, though I appreciate that the white ball game isn't his forte.

A run out. Wonderful. Just what we needed.

What was Ballance thinking??? What a stupid decision to try for a quick single.

Now a suicidal single of Brexit proportions by Gary Ballance! What was that about? Perhaps he had run rate and bonus points on his mind.

a stumping and a run out not necessary in a rearguard innings.

Perhaps Gary was run out backing up at the bowlers end. The run out was by the bowler. Only speculation.

Why do such aberrations always seem to happen to us. With our long tail we are slipping towards follow on and inevitable defeat unless weather intervenes to save us.

No Gary hit the ball and ran. Leaning wouldn't have got half way down and was never interested.

Thanks, I was just wondering. Not a good morning, slowish rr and a run out and stumping. Going to be a big struggle now to get 5 batting points and an even bigger struggle to avoid the follow-on.

Well at least these two are scoring reasonably quickly after new ball with hope of 4 bonus points but spinner's return likely to be critical.

Three wickets lost in two hours, one to an unnecessary stumping and another to a silly run out. I don't know if that's slipping inevitably toward defeat.
Wasn't it Mark Butcher on Sky earlier in the year who said that teams like coming to Headingley, because the crowd easily gets jittery and transmits that to the players?

Their morning. Our best bats are out and we are still 150+ shy of the follow-on. Save the game and get some points on the way should be our motto, not chase runs.

When posters have complained about the lack of urgency towards bonus points in the past, its generally been from positions of strength. Not comparable with this match.

Quite right Dwight

I would be mightily annpyed if we got to 390-4 in 110 overs.....but would fully understand 390-8

Its a balancing act

Lets get to 350 or so and see where we are
