Resting Stokes

September 16 2017, 9:28 AM

I wonder if England can p*** off a few more people after this by resting Buttler at Old Trafford and Bristol, Hales at Notts, Roy at the Oval etc.

5 matches after today to rest Stokes, so they pick on the 1 match at CLS to rest him.

Extra punishment for Durham I wonder?

High of 13c forecasted for today's match of course it's bound to be lovely and toasty in the late evening in Durham in mid-September!

Yes even the timing of the game seems a firm of punishment!

Well bowled Yorkshire - goodness knows why England left Rashid out of test team as he should certainly be in the Ashes squad.

Liam Plunkett

He's damned impressive with a white ball in his hand.

Hoped for a 200 plus score to give England a decent challenge.

Well Geoff he could do as well with red ball if his coach and captains had more faith in his wicket taking ability. How on earth does Morgan gets in the team and why does he promote Buttler before Bairstow in batting order?

Morgan gets into the team because he is the Captain, and has a decent record. However, I fail to see any reason why Roy keeps getting a "gig".

What happened to the 75 minutes to bowl your overs in?

More like 2 hrs now!! The rate is currently 8 overs per hour.

Poor game

September 16 2017, 10:28 PM

Despite Sweet Caroline that match was a very poor advert for T20 cricket.

The weather didn't help but the slow over rate made it all so tedious.

Thought one of our boys was going to be a hero tonight but the whole batting unit fell well short and looked out of their depth.

Stu I don't think Morgan has scored double figures in his last eight t20 innings.

His 50 over record may be better but t20 is clearly not seeing him on fire

Time for Morgan to hang up his international boots and let him go to play around World lining his pockets. Should not be the captain of OD international team - unless it is Ireland! He and Root lost the game yesterday. Jordan in not worth a place but Ball and Malan should be playing, with Bairstow at 4. Stokes should take rest before arduous Ashes tour.

In t20 I can never understand why rashid bats above willey and plunkett when the run rate requires boundaries. Yesterday a prime example. But we see all three in t20 whereas Baylis and Morgan clearly dont

Surely there's a case for dropping Roy and letting Willey open as well. Based on what we see of him anyway.

Willey seems to me to bat like a tailender when he's in at 8, 9 whatever, but bats much better as a pinch hitter up the order. He seems to struggle to rotate the strike and faces too many dot balls.

Tend to agree. Rashid seems high at 7 but at least he rotates the strike and usually scores at a reasonable if not spectacular rate. Willey really struggles when he doesn't have the first six overs of power play to work with.
