Lancs must have wanted a bat themselves. So a good toss to lose for them and us!

Bit like Scarborough but only boot on other foot.

And some would still have picked a spinner!

More like an extra batsman. No pitch needs 5 seamers. If one like this then 4 is plenty. If a belter then a spinner a better option than a 5th seamer.

No complaints from me seeing the score at Lunch.
Should be batting before tea.
Anything can happen in cricket though and hope the players don't take there foot off the gas.

But the fifth seamer is really bresnan who is viewed as a batsman. TKC may have got more runs but no guarantee

In a match we have to win and is likely to be foreshortened strike rate matters. This pointed to playing TKC instead of the fifth seamer who, should be redundant on this track. Even if we win this game it won't mean the selection was right, which is worrying for the future.

Sat in the carnige cafe.

We've bowled really well. Warwickshire look dispirited. Few loose shots. Sharp catch by Adam to dismiss trott.

Agree about if four seamers don't do it why will five line of thinking. I'd have gone with either waite or tck ahead of Fisher.

Expect jetna to play a few shots after lunch.

Patto was convinced he had bell Lbw on 12.

I don't think we need five seamers however, as it looks like Bresnan is our fifth seamer it is a choice between him and a batsman. Bresnan has a higher first class batting average than any batsman we could've picked including Kohler-Cadmore. I agree that I would have gone for TKC as he will develop and could do with the game time but actually as it stands we have picked the player with the better batting record and the fact that it covers us for any injuries or tiredness is a bonus.

Correction - TKC now averages one higher.

Patel always seems to do well batting when playing Yorkshire, I reckon he has quite a decent average against us.

Why Brooks and Patterson after lunch instead of Coad and Fisher - old pals act again from Gale during the lunch interval?? We must not let this slip in the afternoon after the excellent start - complacency is the last thing needed to bring home the points.

Going with a five pronged seam attack is actually clever thinking by the Yorkshire selection panel. Not only Fisher's pace adds an extra dimension, but possible bad light means only Patterson of the seam bowling attack can bowl with Lyth, Leaning or Brathwaite operating at the other end.

Two in a over for Fisher! He must feel good about that. I certainly do!

Both Middlesex and Somerset are also struggling to get near a first batting point, though both probably will.

Surprising but also not surprising that Patel has 25 first class 50s. He doesn't just get them against us clearly!

Deeply disappointing session. 142 runs conceded and only two more wickets. Another bad session and we will be in deep relegation trouble. Middlesex have recovered this afternoon too.
