Ryan Sidebottom

September 19 2017, 9:12 AM

Although Ryan is correctly omitted from our squad above he will in fact (probably )be playing .... for Warwickshire !
This is of course the Australian import not "our" Ryan who is sadly injured and unable to take part in his last match at Headingley

Hope we see him at Chelmsford next week - whatever happens he has been a great player and will be missed .

Good luck

Not going until tomorrow, hope the sun shines on those attending today.

As I take my seat at start of play tomorrow a scoreboard reading 340 for 5, Yorkshire batting of course, would be ideal and would have given you all a good day.

Lets see what reality brings.

I'd rather see Yorkshire 140 for 1 - having bowled Warwickshire out for 97 before lunch..

Me too

140 is a bit modest if we bowl them out before lunch.

Alas I can't see them opting for a toss.

Unless of course the sun and a hot Sirocco wind is scorching the pitch and they fancy Patel bowling last.

nice sunny, still morning at the ground but there was clearly some overnight rain. Would have thought we'd start on time though. Beware the team with the pressure off anddesperate to make a point, though. I doubt this will bea romp for Yorks but as ever I 'd be delighted to be proved wrong.

No Rafiq as many here were predicting and surprisingly we have had a toss and are bowling first.

Interesting that they've packed the seam bowling line up and Warwickshire fancied a bat, neither of which I expected! TKC and Rafiq miss out. Hopefully we can get right into them this morning and be batting by the end of the day ready to bat once and bat big. COME ON YORKSHIRE

Today looks the best day for batting in fairness. Either that or Warks fancy a 3 dayer. Their batting looks extremely thin.

Would have played TKC over a seamer personally.

I never know why you would need five seamers in any side.
If four seamers wont do it i cant see that five will.....
Presumably they're expecting Lyth to bowl a few overs - but i'm not sure why they've picked Fisher ahead of Carver...

Perplexed at the side picked tbf

Would of played TKC over Bresnan/Patterson although I like the inclusion of fisher. Hopefully losing an extra batsman won't hurt us significantly

A few surprises here. I'd have thought TKC would have been a better option than the fifth seamer, but perhaps Tim B is playing mainly as a batsman. Also surprised we weren't inserted. Liam Banks is Warwickshire's Harry Brook, by the way. Actually, they're hoping he's their Joe Root, as he's been a bit of a teenage prodigy in league cricket (Cheshire/North Staffs).

The shambles that is Middx may be our salvation - they've prpared a greentop and ended up batting. One down already. Here one shout for lb and couple of play and misses.

I'm ok with the team as we need 20 wickets and not sure any of our spinners would have helped in this regard.

It's good Brooks today and he's got Sibley caugjt behind. No 270odd today then.

Brian, Middlesex have ended up batting, but chose to do so.

And another for Brooks. Middlesex three down. The first 40 minutes couldn't have gone much better.

Bizarre decisions to have a toss so you can bat first on a day like this at this time of the year.

Somerset did too at the Oval but we know that's a road permanently!

2 down here too. Good so far. Also big shout for caugjt behind off Bell. Banks looks like he could be a decent prospect.
