Hopefully we'll get atleast a decent amount of play in between showers, could be a difficult day to bat.

Middlesex and Somerset are now both in a position where they would lose so even a rain draw could see us open up the gap. The match at Lords is looking particularly interesting.

Tyke looks into his crystal ball and sees a win for Middlesex and a defeat for Somerset in this round of matches. He sees a sporting wicket at Taunton for the match between Somerset and Middlesex and he sees a win for Essex at Chelmsford against Yorkshire.

It will all be very tight indeed. (Of course Yorkshire might beat Warwickshire - but I'm not holding my breath.)

Oh, Lancy Lancy! Lancy Lancy Lancy Lancy Lancashire!

Sorry to disagree, Tyke, but I think the wicket is probably the only winner at The Oval. And I am backing Lancs to do the job, what with Middx having lost TRJ to injury. We shall see who is right!

The pivotal day of the whole season, weather permitting.

Can Lancs do it against Middlesex minus Toblerone? Probably not, but Livingstone is in, with Chanderpaul to come. Unfortunately FA else.

Our friend Kumar can turn the screw at The Oval, and put Somerset way behind on first innings. The scores would suggest the pitch is not 100% flat, and Somerset are in this position because of their flaky batting.

Come on Lancashire! Come on Surrey! (A line i don't expect to see repeated on WRF.)

Come on Yorkshire, too. We can do ourselves a lot of good if we can win this, somehow. All results possible, if there's significant play at Headingley today. Against Patel, we need to be chasing 150 absolute max.

Cracking day of cricket ahead. I'm missing Leeds today due to weather and a bit of domestic stuff but will be back tomorrow. Ours is a hard game to read, we could do with 'good Brooks' this morning, but all results remain very possible. Depending on how much play occurs today, a draw might be favourite - I haven't looked at the odds.

I think Surry may sneak home at the Oval. Lords is too close to call.

Hoping for rain at the ODI so Sports extra will probably broadcast the end of the Middlesex v Lancs game.

Oh lancy, lancy...... (and on)

Forecast v actuality

September 21 2017, 8:54 AM

According to the weather forecast we were due heavy rain in Scarborough from about 4 this morning, it's dry so far so I will take the Headingley forecast with a pinch of salt.

Could be a fascinating season turning day if we get a decent amount of cricket.

I'm with tyke, though the results aren't nailed on I think Middlesex will lose today and Somerset will lose tomorrow.

If we can get Warwickshire out today I would hope we can chase 250 or less on Friday for a win.

(The rain has just arrived)

It's a day for bowling with breaks allowing the seamers to refresh and disturbances meaning batsmen have to get back in again.

We need a Brooks purple patch with Coad in early season form and Fisher repeating first innings at one end and then Patto metronomic at the other.

Agree today's the day that will decide our season. I don't want to chase over 150 but fear we will be

I have a feeling we'll get another three wickets before the scores are level..

Three for Coad.

Poor light at the moment in North Leeds, rain due about start time according to the rain radar.

all 3 results possible

While a win will probably earn us a place in the CCD1 next year a draw would not be the end but, and not even the worse doomsayers here are saying it, a loss to Warwickshire would mean relegation and we may be glad of a bit of rain

No pressure on them, loads of pressure on the White Rose

Yorkshire, Yorkshire, Yorkshire...

(Dear Boss, could find it difficult to get my work done today)

I'm at home, listening to Cally (for my sins). Play has started and we've opened with Coad and Fisher - glory be! I wonder if we've got a third man.

Commentators think light 'marginal'.

20 minutes gone and no wicket yet, except at Lord's, where Livingstone is out.

I'm at home listening to sports extra where they're broadcasting Middlesex v Lancashire. Pitch has gone. Pundits giving Lancashire no chance.

Don't like the look of things at Leeds. Wouldn't want to chase more than 170 tomorrow against Patel.

Sports Extra about to interview John Stephenson about next year's County Championship game which will be in Barbados. Those were the days.
