Re: Championship | Yorkshire vs Warwickshire at Headingley (Day Four)

September 22 2017, 9:03 AM

It does feel this morning is most important session Yorkshire have had for a while. Even more important then last day at Lords last September.
Looking for big innings from captain Ballance and vice captain Bresnan.

If twisting my arm would say Yorkshire will win but would not put any money on it.

Bresnan looked like some of his batting form returned in the first innings. Confident that he will stand up and be counted.

I think that we will do it.

No price reductions for the day I see.

Missed a trick there as the game clearly isn't going to last beyond tea

FWIW it's a fiver in for students anyway. But agree should have been a fiver across the board and get it advertised.

It should be a fiver to get in and then a fiver to get out if we win but a refund if we lose.

Innovation and incentive

As nervous as hell here.

My head says its not a problem, but my heart is saying, what if we lose a few early wickets.....

we tend to overuse the term must win match, but this really is the real mccoy, lose and we are almost certain to be relegated, win and we are almost certainly safe.

what a session coming up.

Ballance within a millimeter of being bowled there, then hit the next ball to the boundary.

don't think i can take much more of this.

God, if yorkshire really is your chosen county, now would be a good time to prove it.

On Ballance the odds favour Warwickshire in my view and I'm Leaning towards that outcome myself.

But sometimes the Hodds can work in your favour and as long as we don't have players who are fishers outside the off stump and if they avoid more dot balls than the Morse Coad we might sneak it.

It's Tim for someone to stand up and be counted....

Bugger Ballance out

The captain gone with 103 runs left to get.

Ballance didn't adopt the same approach as lastnight to Patel. Just prodded away until the inevitable.

TKC must be spectating with mixed emotions at this game, given Worcestershire's strong likelihood of promotion.

Odds against us now.

Not feeling optimistic here at all. If we can't beat Warwickshire then perhaps we deserve to go down.

If we lose, we definitely deserve to go down.

100 to get and our best 4 batsmen out: it's getting ever-trickier...

Fair to say losing Balance is not a great start but there's still plenty of runs left in this team if they apply themselves. The conditions are as good for batting as they have been all game and there is now under a hundred to get. Positive without being reckless is the way forward, do that and we will win this.

Does anyone have any idea what Cally thinks the word "proficient" means? He's been using it all season in the oddest of ways - perhaps he's confusing it with "prolific". He just described the traffic in Birmingham as "proficient", which may be a compliment to our collective driving abilities down here, but probably isn't.

Someone needs to stand up here and see this one through there's a lot at stake for the club and their own careers.

I can't see there was any change in Balance's approach today: defend unless you get a bad ball. He got three last night, one this morning, and put them all away.
