Re: Championship | Yorkshire vs Warwickshire at Headingley (Day Four)

As I feared - ultra defensive against Patel and first lbw - suspect there will be many unless someone gets after him. Maybe Brooks should be put in early to have a go?

We're bogged down here which doesn't work well for us. If we allow Patel to bowl all day we will lose. Someone needs to take the risk of hitting him out the attack

Leaning out to Patel. We're looking down the barrel now.

Yes, we look doomed but it is all our own fault after giving away the advantage we had after first morning.

Oh dear. Bresnan holes out. Call for TKC.

Doing a great job of making Patel look like Warne in his prime. Perhaps if we do go down, the club can have a clear out as it's clearly needed. Come on lads don't bottle it.

And Bresnan gone too. Do we think it might be a good idea to actually try and score some runs rather than just blocking and waiting for the inevitable??

Someone, Bresnan, did decide to hit Patel out of the park.

Caught for a duck.

Damned if you do....

For those who favour a more positive approach Tim Bresnan has just smashed it down deep mid wicket's throat.

Bressie gone, this really would be the great escape now. Perhaps a couple of young eager bowlers coming out to bat with a slightly less orthodox technique will work in our favour? I'm really clutching at straws now.

You can be positive without being reckless.

The lack of singles is the main issue: the one Hodd has just taken was the 5th in 17 overs this morning (and two of those were leg byes...) That just builds pressure and leads to daft shots like Bresnan appears to have played; watch Root play, he never lets that kind of situation build.

sums up bresnans season

from player of the season by a mile to a very poor season

this will be a stunning defeat ( from 49-6) along with the Hampshire defeat earlier in the season

no complaints we are not good enough

Exactly. That was the first single off Patel in over 9 overs this morning. You are allowed to use your feet and play a non forceful shot.

Now Hodd gone ffs

And with him, our hopes.

I would have said this win or lose, but Gale (and the club) must be very seriously considering his position now. This season has been a disaster.

I'd rather go down and out with a bang instead of a whimper.

At least they tried to get scoring off Sidebottom but if he's not taking wickets he's taking catches and whatever we think about our selection and form and approach we have lost to pretty much a one man Herculean effort.

More emphasis of having the right long term overseas or kolpak

Gutted as others have said we had them on the ropes at lunch on Tuesday. I never envisaged this scenario.

Shameful, the more senior players have let the side down badly and this against a side languishing bottom of the league, clueless bunch.

If anybody on here actually tries to defend gale and moxon or disagree with anything I say then your a moron. This has been an absolute disgrace this year.

1. Moxon and gale gone
2. Hodd replaced with a batsman/keeper - no debate he's not made a 100 for us
3. Put faith in a spinner and a fast bowler that are specifically for red ball cricket
Plunkett n Rashid pointless this season
4. Sign minimum 2 players - top order 1000 run scorer and keeper/batsman maybe kolpac?
5. Stop signing mediocre overseas players
6. Get some people on the board that aren't afraid to upset the apple cart. Boycott and Vaughan don't mince their words and should be welcomed in some capacity
7. Moxon and gale out

I apologise for the rant but I'm absolutely seething. A firing squad is a punishment that's not befitting this debacle. We are an absolute shambles and any player that wants to stay div 1 can rot in hell for me. Nobody has done anything this year apart from coad and early ballance to even deserve a contract.

Some of my points might be unrealistic but number 1 and 7 are non negotiable you can't even justify either of them 2
