Let's not lose all hope just yet. This wouldn't be the first time our last four have got us out of trouble and we're only 65 away.

nice, balanced post Frank! the only moron is you.

Look at the averages - only 2 players have 1,000 runs in the CC. It's a shorter competition this year and 1,000 runs per season is an outdated bench mark.

Hodd's done well when given the chance higher up the order.

Of course a reliable spinner would be nice - but try to find one! Moxon and Gale can only work with what they have. Finances, long term contracts and an international schedule all limit the resources available to sign new players!

"If anybody on here actually tries to... disagree with anything I say then your a moron."

There's an excellent old New Yorker cartoon where an editor is sitting talking to an author and saying "Gee, you sure write good."

Good stuff from these two. Patel seems to have lost some control too.

Steve your an idiot. How can you defend this?? How many 100's has hodd got?? (Steve Davies was available last year but Somerset signed him when we should of gone for him). I'm dying to know. Who in our team is averaging over 30 this year?? The warning signs were clear last season. Good sides spot a problem and rectify it. How can you stick up for somebody that has taken us from 3rd to relegated?? The problem is people like you who are too loyal or stupid to see the problems starring them in the face. Apart from coad who's taken more than 25 wickets?? I'd much rather carver or shutt be given a run of games than rafiq. Rashid bottled it last year and has been terrible this season.

Steve i apologise. I don't want to argue because we all want the same thing here. I get abit carried away and my emotions get the better of me. It just hurts how bad we are and I believe the problems could of been solved earlier.

Please refer to our "rules of engagement" below. We do NOT tolerate personal attacks.

BBC guys saying it may rain after lunch. Anyone at the ground care to comment?

Would we rather it did, or are we daring to dream again?

These two might have just pulled us out of the mire here, we should go on and win it from here.

It doesn’t alter the fact that changes are needed though. The team is in steady decline and the coaching staff needs a shake up. It’s pretty obvious to anyone but the most blinkered that it’s new broom time otherwise avoiding relegation by the skin of our teeth this year is just delaying the inevitable until next season.

I'm at the ground. Clouds building over the western terrace.

V tense. You can feel the wave of relief which accompanies every run. Patel is a real handful with huge turn and bounce, as the saying almost goes 'we'll get' em in byes'.

To close to call, still think advantage Warwickshire. Brilliant game which only the championship can produce.

Makes me despise Strauss and Greaves even more.

Yes you feel another ten minutes and getting it down to the 20s would have been helpful before lunch

First hour, squeaky bum, and misery mixed with disgust. Second hour, squeaky bum and faint hope stirring. Now it's squeaky bum time for real into the third hour. Clouds gathering, rain forecast at 3. But it will be all over by then, one way or t'other. Advantage Warwickshire still. Bet Ben Coad hasn't enjoyed his lunch.

Peter post

September 22 2017, 1:09 PM

Going back to Peter's post. I would hardly call Shaun Marsh and Peter Handscomb mediocre, especially bearing in mind the reputations they both came with.

I would be interested for you to name names as to who you feel would be a fit, and is available - we can all ask for a top quality batsman, a top quality bowler, but if one is not available, we may have to be more realistic.

With regards to Hodd - who exactly are we going to get of superior quality who would be willing to step aside when Jonny B is available to us?

As for Kolpaks, I was always supportive of the ones we had, but I think YCCC is a better state for not having them. Having seen Kolpaks adjectly fail for the likes of Leicester/ Glamorgan etc in the championship, I am not convinced it is the way to go. Plus after all I said about South Africa B...I mean Hampshire earlier this season I would have to decline.

I would not totally disagree with someone like Vaughan on the committee - I would suspect MPV himself may have prior media commitments.

I am going to defend Gale - let's not get down the football route of sacking managers as a cure all to bad form. Andrew is a young manager who has had to work with a reduced resource for a variety of reasons. Division 1 is a tough cookie, and underperforming cannot all be laid at his door.

As for the red ball specialists - only really I would say applies to Sidebottom. Brookes and Patto. Sidebottom has been injured, Brookes out of form and Patto has had to extend his duties to T20 this season as cover, not ideal, but nobody's fault.

Finally - why the Moxon hate? Marty Moxon is a first rate coach. Although only 2 titles to his name, he laid the foundation for our 2001 success in his first spell with Yorkshire. He then laid similar foundations for Durham's 2 crowns after he left them. Again, without Justin Langer riding in over Kirkstall hill on a white charger to the rescue - who are we going to get in that position better than Martyn?

Hope you appreciate the counterpoint - not a 'moron' in sight methinks....

These two have been superb and if Patto sees us through the man deserves a knighthood happy.gif. In regard to Hodd, I have to agree with Frank on that one, you can't argue against statistics, Hodd simply does not contribute enough with the bat.
