If we had some of the players who performed so well with England yesterday, we'd win this (and the championship) at a canter; instead we're praying for 8 points sad.gif

Yes spent a lot of time debating this with Essex supporters on line, and they really haven't an answer of any credibility loving it yesterday as YCCC players had a hand in virtually every key moment of the game as we always seem to do .

Back on the game not a great forecast today we could get away with the poor weather down there or maybe just miss it,watching the BBC more likely to be a bowling day so get the 3 points then lets see from there

Have we got 4 batting points in any of the games this season? Thanks....

Last year there was a fear of collusion in the final game and it's hard not to see that this occurred at Lords to deny Somerset.

This year the potential for collusion is not as obvious with so many permutations and teams involved.

In fact the best chance of collusion is in our game where we need 8 points (or is it 6?) and Essex want to be unbeaten. So a draw suits both teams down to the ground. But I'd rather see us win, finish above Lancashire and end on a high

Anyone seen anything official about today's team or squad or has Gale gone AWOL? Hope K-C plays instead of Lees and spinner instead of Brooks - four seamers maximum. Think we should bowl and try to get 3 points today to put pressure on the other teams.

Please give the Gale-bashing a rest! It's utterly ludicrous.

Obviously nothing to do with Gale but it is pretty odd that the squad doesn't appear to be anywhere on the Official site or twitter feed.

Asif by magic it is now. Wonder if they read the forum!

The overall choices are not ideal.

If we leave out a seamer it should be for a batsman. I really can't see any point in playing a spinner who isn't good enough.

Very damp here at present.

Forecast suggests drier later. Meanwhile, sun will shine on Somerset match.

I would have gone TKC for Brooks but given the conditions this morning if we do opt to bowl he could be a real handful, so not so sure now.

I admire the brevity of your existentialism.
Is that a general statement or a forecast about todays cricket?

It worked for us last time so I'm sticking with it.
