Re: Other matches

But their matches don't finish in two or three days.

v Lancs, Somerset win on the 4th day.
v Surrey, match drawn.
v Yorkshire, Yorkshire win on the 4th day.
v Hants, Hants win on the 3rd day.
v Warks, match drawn
v Essex, Essex win on the 3rd day.

The current match seems very unlikely to finish today, there would need to be 18 wickets for that to happen when there have been 13 and 9 on the preceding two days.

So of their 7 home matches, 5 will have gone the distance and 2 have finished on the third day. They don't even have a very good record at home, with more defeats than victories. I'm not sure there is anything in these allegations of pitch tampering at all.

Well done Billy Root and Chris Read on their centuries today, at the opposite ends of their first class careers. Hoping that Notts return to first division as Trent Bridge is lovely ground and they are good club.

Livingstone 5-27 after one wicket all season. Yet it's Somerset's tracks that are the issue..

If Hampshire lose and Somerset win, then Hampshire go down, do I understand that correctly?

I don't see how that can be the case though, after all Hampshire have 4 Kolpaks in Abbott, Roussouw, Ervine and Edwards plus an overseas in Bailey.

I though signing Kolpak's and good overseas players guaranteed you success?

lancs need 175 to finish runners up....that will teach s(l)urrey for declaring at 201-8 and denying the lancys a bonus point!

Roussow been a flop. They'd probably be below Warks if it wasn't for the rest though, especially Abbott.

latest relegation news

somerset have to beat middx, if they do they stay up....but its raining at taunton

if somerset do win then hants need to avoid defeat....they need 259 to win and would welcome the rain.

if hants do avoid defeat and somerset win then middx go down.

meanwhile notts simply need to avoid defeat to get promoted with worcs who are already up.....congratulations to them

But that all assumes no points deductions for dodgy tracks.

Good to still see some excitement in the last day..... Other than Chelmsford.

Wins for lancs Hants and Somerset probably so Middlesex relegated.

Heard on radio 5 live today(sorry could not bear to watch the live stream from chelmsford) that middx had agreed with surrey and the umpires that surrey would declare to give middx the chance to rectify their over rate by declaring.

The umpires did not report this in their match report so at the appeal hearing the ecb were not aware of this agreement. Therefore middx feel that the appeal should be reheard.

I do have some sympathy with middx, would be unfortunate if they were relegated because of the crossbow incident. Not really sure why the game had to be relegated, the bolt landed harmlessly on the pitch and therefore did not have the velocity to actual harm anyone even if it had struck someone. Seems any excuse to knock off early.

Thankfully the forecast for Taunton is dry tomorrow- would be a terrible shame if rain decided this in the end. Hants game is set up really nicely, 239 more with 9 wickets in hand to avoid relegation!

Great innings from Root and Read to seal Notts' promotion. Looks like you can do well in all three competitions; think back to the heady days when that was our aim, one would do me now!

So blokes firing random arrows is all fair game but a bloke using his fists to defend himself is abhorrent and he should be punished with a spell in the nick and community service.

Next time your out in Bristol Ben, take Robin Hood from Nottingham with you rather than Alex Hales as some people are fine if you defend yourself with a bow and arrow rather than your fists

Regarding arrowgate, the alleged agreement between Middlesex, Surrey and the umpires is not a ground for appeal against the points deduction. The arrow incident was rub of the green. Suppose weather had caused the abandonment, would Middlesex have pursued the matter? Furthermore the agreement itself, if it existed, was slightly dodgy. Surrey had nothing to gain from this apart from a favour to be called in on some future occasion.

Furthermore, other teams went into the final round of matches with knowledge of what they thought they needed to stay up. To revise that when the matches are concluded would be totally unfair on them.

Though quite where we'd have found another couple of points if we'd needed them, I can't imagine.

Wouldn't say it's comparable with weather stopping play. If an arrow is fired at Taunton today with Somerset needing two wickets are they then relegated and the incident shrugged off as just 'rub of the green?'

Agree with Idleman though, it's too late for an appeal now as other teams knew what they needed coming into the last round of fixtures.

Really TU, don't know anybody who can twist my words like you can.

for want of clarification, the arrow firer shold also be arrested, (he was) and he should never be allowed to play for england.

I have never said Stokes should be charged let alone spend time in the nick, that would be up to a judge to decide, however, he could and should be charged by the ecb for bringing the game into disrespute and receive a lengthy ban for his violent conduct.

If you want to discuss this further, then please do not spam this thread as this subject has nothing to do with 'other matches'

oh and robin hood, if he did exist died a long long time ago.
