Wasn't a done deal with Notts then, Lancs snapped him up.

This is the club, who are always crowing about "how good they are at developing their own players".
Buttler, Chanderpaul, Vilas, Maclaren, Jarvis, and now Jennings in their team.

I wonder how the young homegrown openers Hammed, Davies & Jones feel about this signing

Lancashire regularly play 7-9 academy graduates in their teams. I wish every club followed suit.

As a player regularly dismissed for single figures, he should fit in well with the rest of the Lancashire top order.

It will be interesting to see how he does, he has had one brilliant season, but he doesn't convince me at all.

I don't blame Lancs, and they certainly do produce players of their own alongside their imports, but I feel bad for Durham. That's 5 established players leaving in 2 years now (Stoneman, Borthwick, Jennings, Coughlin, Onions).

Fair enough. Lancs remain a largely home grown squad with a bit of outside help. Rather like ourselves really!!

Onions has also gone to Lancashire. They might produce some home grown players, but now it is becoming about 50-50. Not as many as some counties, but they still have a lot of players that are not home-grown (I make it 7 now).
EDIT -- I was not aware Jarvis had left, so it is 6. Thanks Dave.

Jarvis has left at his own request to go back to play for Zimbabwe so onions seems a more or less direct replacement for him, an English player (even though not from their own academy) for a Kolpak can't be seen as a negative step for them can it?
