Re: Championship | Essex vs Yorkshire at Chelmsford (Day Three)

So we now need to knock off over 400 and counting but plenty of time left to do it!

I predicted yesterday we would be chasing well over 450. Hopefully a declaration soon. I think they already have 200 more than we will get.

Perhaps Essex want this to guarantee this goes into the fourth day to maximise their income. There's plenty of time left so nothing wrong with setting us an impossible target.

Please take with a huge pinch of salt.

Hodd is rubbish, Gale & Moxon out, our top order are poor, our overseas signings have been poor, our batting tail is to long, Carver should have bowled earlier in this match, the fixture scheduling is garbage, and we need to sign several new players but no idea who.

Lots of iffy declarations this week & Rashid should have been picked for the Aussie tour.

Strauss, CG and the ECB all to blame.

Is that a FULL HOUSE on the bull**** bingo card. If so, I claim my prize!!

EDIT --- perhaps two of the above are true, we are 3-2.

Re signings

Instead of going for overseas or kolpaks let's persuade Root and Hutton to sign.

one thing is for sure that this season has been a huge disappointment

there have been contributing factors but I think it is time for a fresh approach and voice to try and get more out of these players as we will not be able to have wholesale changes

hopefully gale will do the honourable thing - as I said at the time he should never have been appointed and it is a shame to be proved right

Essex just wanted to rub it in. Which they are doing. Pretty humiliating to watch this.

Do people still think our batting is fine, Gale is not the man to turn this around, need somebody with more experience

17-3 now. Last 2 batsmen in now.

I will not even go to the 4th day.

I'll tell you what it's a bloody good job we don't have a batting problem..

I don't think many people think that our batting is fine, regardless of what certain posters may insinuate. Whether Gale can turn things around is another question, and one that's very hard to answer from the outside. I would be interested to hear from someone who has backstage access and insight.

Another dismal start by our top three "batsmen" - like men against boys 🙁 Ballance not good choice for Ashes.

It's quite conceivable that none of our batsmen will get into double figures at this rate. Ballance gone for five. In Leaning and Hodd we trust.

Good effort from Fisher with the ball but looks like he will be lucky to get a hour rest before having to bat.

This is all a bit after the Lord Mayors show, so not surprised that we are crashing and burning, but once again highlights (in view of our batting frailties) the folly of such a weak batting line up.

Fantastic stuff from our top order. I'm glad we don't have any issues with the batting Dwight.

Another humiliating defeat. Order a skip for headingley we need a clear out asap (not ranting or an over reaction before you lynch me)

They should have stayed in the changing room and waved the white flag from the window. Without sounding overly critical (God forbid), I must say our batting is slightly suspect, this is just not cricket.

What a shambles. How can people on here think the batting isn't a problem is beyond me. Agree with Dwight, Frank and Jays views.
