I have been very impressed with Fishers batting, so far. Never realised he was as good, as he has shown. He has a lot of stickability.

Shocking - as too much of the season has been. We only have Patto to thank for still being in Div 1.

What an absolutely shambolic end to the season: we're on course for our biggest ever defeat in terms of runs and an innings where no batsmen makes it to double figures. I don't like to call for people to lose their jobs, but I don't see how the coaching staff can continue after this.

Holidays

Cricketing equivalent to soccer teams being on their holidays in May?

On their Skiing holidays? that's not very Yorkshire is it, still neither is the batting in this match (season?)

Of course the batting has been execrable in this innings and it has been poor for much of the season. Another perspective might be to look at Essex' second innings score and ask questions of the bowlers.

In truth though, this has been a deeply humiliating performance and the biggest question of all has to be related to the collective morale of a team that scarcely deserves to be in Division One.
Many of these young men are outstanding cricketers.

Trouble at't Mill!

It is a statement of fact that if we finish fourth then we will be higher placed than those lower than us in the division. That is a statistic, no doubt about it.

But it is also a classic example of that phrase about someone using statistics in the same way that a drunken man uses a lamp post. For support rather than illumination.

The statistics dont begin to tell the story.

Lees's protest, Dwight: against those who think he's a competent opening batsman (indeed, potential Test opener)?

Agree Stu, i thought he looked the most comfortable of all the batsmen against Patel last week. Why has he been hidden away all season?!

Something's most definitely afoot, is it morale, leadership, form, coaching, an unhappy dressing room or a combination of all of these? I know that this certainly can't carry on into next season.

A great comeback from the Windies btw.

Maybe FCM! Was more thinking of the rumours regarding his and Gale's relationship.

Because he knackered his hamstring three times last year, and the club would quite like his career to continue into his 20s!

Think the rumours are suggesting that Lees & Gale have had a fall out thus creating a bad atmosphere in the dressing room. Of course I can stand corrected.

Pretty much what i heard at a 2nd XI game, so must be true!

Hodd allegedly had to call in Lees' family to calm the situation..

One good thing which has happened this season is the emergence of Coad and Fisher although they still have not been given the chance to share a new ball together. Both have also shown capability with the bat, especially Fisher in this month's CC matches.

Crikey. Is that before or after he scored a 100 and, strangely, was reinstated to 1st slip? (Had he been told he could have his slip position back if he got the 100?).

I think players, coaches and the board need to do some serious soul searching over these dark winter months. Big changes are required in all three departments. Your only as good as your last season, players have got to stop dining out on 2014 and 2015 glories.
