Says he would like to forge a career as a white ball specialist.

What would this mean for his Yorkshire career? Morgan is the only example I can think of in the English system. Possibly Buttler as well, I don't recall him playing much CC cricket since moving to Lancs.

I'm not sure Yorkshire would be so accommodating to a player who does not wish to play all formats and may disappear to play in various franchise leagues. Then again he doesn't play much Championship cricket as it is. This is of course a concern with the new league to come, how many more English players will go down this road. There may be a few who decide it just isn't worth pursuing the longer form to get battered every time they leave these shores!

PS If anyone is interested his Perth side start their Big Bash campaign tomorrow (Saturday) morning at 5:10 am.

On the basis that he can barely get in his County team and has also had a lot of injury problems over the years and is very successful in T20 and lesser deree ODers, I can see his logic here.

He may get more of a chance in the CC team now that Sidebottom has retired. After all this was one of the reasons given for his signing, that he would ultimately be replacing a similar type of bowler (left arm seamer). Whether he proves to have Sidebottom's success is another matter entirely.

If he does become a "white-ball" specialist, then we need to re-negotiate his contract as he will hardly ever be playing for us.

IPL till the end of May, then England ODI`s then the Carribean tournament, then the SA or Bangladesh one. We will do well to get him for more than 3 weeks per season.

Would be interested to know if this has been discussed with the management. A balanced attack is needed next year and we have 2 left arm steamers on the books who could provide variety but seem not to be able to make the first team transition/place their own. Wonder what the plans are and what has been said to both of them.

He doesn't get in our starting four day team and his availability is hit and miss. As long as he plays for us in white ball when available then no loss to the four day side even with Siddy going.
