After the reception, Jill and Michelle were off to the Bahamas for their honeymoon. For Mark and his kids, it was the first gay wedding any of them had been to. And yet, it was no different from any other wedding they had ever been to.
That night, Andrew got started on his packing for law school, while Mark talked with Marcus and Jessica down in the kitchen.
Mark and his son were reminscing about everything, and making wisecracks. Jessica would just sit back and smile at them. Marcus noticed that his wife was barely taking part in the conversation. He frowned and asked, "You okay, babe?"
"Yeah," she smiled tiredly, "But I think I'm going to head up to bed."
"It's only nine-thirty," he said, and Mark gave his son a glare. He shrugged innocently at him.
"I know, but I'm really exhausted," she said, as she got up from her chair, with Mark helping her.
She smiled at him, kissed her husband goodnight, and went upstairs. Marcus looked on and sighed.
"I worry about her," He admitted.
Mark frowned. "Why?" he asked.
"She goes to bed early a lot now, and she barely danced at the wedding."
Mark couldn't help but laugh at him. "She's probably just getting ready."
"For what?" asked Marcus.
"To give birth!" he laughed, "Marcus, she's acting just like your mother did right before she had you guys."
"Isn't it too soon for that?" Marcus wondered.
"I'm not saying she's going to have the baby this week. It takes weeks for the body to prepare for labor. But she's getting close, so you should prepare yourself," Mark explained.
"She's going to need you."
"I know, dad."
After awhile, Marcus decided to turn in early and keep his wife company. Mark was not even remotely tired, so he was going to wait up for Aislinn. She had gone out for coffee with a guy she met at the wedding. Mark wasn't particularly crazy about the idea, considering they had known one another for all but two hours. Jill herself barely knew him, because her friend who was invited to the wedding, brought the man as her guest.
