Cruz and Dade were out making rounds, trying to find out where a person could get some hot furs. They assumed that that would lead them to the right source as to who the scales were. One store they came across had an owner that Cruz knew. He was pretty sneaky, and Cruz never really got along with him, for obvious reasons.
She knew that he was somehow linked to these robbers, or he knew something about them.
Trying to hint to him that she could keep him out of trouble if he helped them, Cruz said, "Phil, how would you like to be friends for the first time in three years?"
He raised an eyebrow at her and gave in with a sigh. "Alright. Just...what do you need me to do?"
"Now we're talkin," Cruz nodded, with a smirk.
Nightfall had soon come, and the precinct was fooled by the same people earlier in the day. By now, they were worrying about when to know if a 10-13 call would be a real one or not.
So later that night, Bosco and Yokas took a 10-13 call. Sargent Cruz and Dade met up with them at the site. It was a neighborhood community with apartment buildings lined up all along the street.
Both pairs of cops exited their vehicles, Cruz searching the surrounding area quickly. They saw nothing.
The four of them stood by each other and Cruz said into her radio, "55 crime Sargent to Central, with a 10-13 at 131 and Green. There is nothing here, it's unfounded." She shook her head, just as Yokas eyed her.
"Sargent? Don't you think we should check the building?" she said.
"What?" Cruz said, making it seem like Faith didn't know what she was doing. "The call was on the street."
"Well don't you think you made a pretty quick decision?" said Faith.
"Are you questioning that, officer?" Cruz retorted, raising her eyebrows at the cop.
"Yeah, I guess I am," Yokas said, as she continued to walk into the building.
Cruz couldn't believe the way she was just treated by a cop in uniform. She rolled her eyes and look at Bosco sternly.
"Partner's got an attitude problem," she said to him.
"I'm sorry," Bosco told her, "I'll talk to her."
Cruz and Dade left.
When Yokas and Bosco entered the building, they found a man lying in the hallway, with a frantic woman standing beside him. She ran up to them and yelled, "Please! He's a police officer from the fifth precinct, and my ex-husband just stabbed him!"
"Bosco, call for a bus!" Yokas said, as she tried putting pressure on the man's wound.
Maurice looked at the off duty cop and felt guilty for some reason. He called into his radio, "55-David to Central. We need a rush on a bus for a seriously injured off duty policeman. At 333 Green."
Awhile later, Bosco and Yokas showed up at the hospital. Since they took the call, they had to fill out the paperwork at the nurse's station.
"I can fill out the paperwork if you want," Faith said to Bosco.
He nodded. "Sure. Thanks."
Central paged Cruz since she was the Sargent in charge of catching the perp who stabbed the man.
She went up to Bosco, who was beside Yokas at the desk, and asked, "Nobody's found him yet?"
"Nope, cops are still out lookin for him," Bosco told her.
"They get a description, car info?" she asked.
"No, not yet," Bosco was saying to her, just as Faith mumbled to Cruz, while writing the report, "You make me sick."
Cruz raised an eyebrow at her angrily and said, "Excuse me?"
"A cop was just stabbed and all you're worried about is a description?" she said, sounding disgusted with her.. Cruz glared at her and retorted matter-of-factly, "I am the anti-crime Sargent. We lock people up. That is our job."
"Yeah," Faith said, turning around and smirking sarcastically, "Yeah, I've seen you do your job up close; very impressive!"
With that, Yokas walked to the back lounge they had for staff and police who came, so she could get some coffee. Cruz had had it. She followed Yokas into that coffee room and said, "You don't walk away from me."
"You're not my Sargent," Yokas replied, with her back to her.
"I say anything about being a Sargent?" Cruz said, with attitude.
By this time, Bosco had come in the room. "All right, you know what? Let me talk to her Sarge."
Cruz turned around and waved to him, "Why don't you watch the door?"
Hearing that made Yokas laugh quite loudly. "What? Are you gonna beat me up now?" she retorted, still laughing at her.
"We're in the middle of a hospital!" Bosco exclaimed, trying to get the two to calm down.
"I said watch the door!" Cruz said, starting to go at Yokas, until Bosco got in the middle of them and held her back.
"Yeah," Faith said, in reply to Bosco's last remark. "No witnesses. I might make some sort of...dying declaration!" she shrugged.
Cruz looked at Bosco and then glared back at Yokas, suspiciously.
"Come on...that's enough. Enough of this," Bosco said.
Cruz let out an angry sigh and laid off, pointing her finger at Faith and shaking her head. "We're not finished," she said, as she pointed between the two of them. Yokas sarcastically made a scared face and replied, "I'm shaking!"
