Ever since the dying declaration incident that Faith found out about, things weren't the same between she and Bosco. They were working back on beat together for a few days, but a few days was turning into too much for both of them to handle.
Faith wasn't ready to forgive her partner of all those years for lying to her, just yet. It would take awhile. She lost her trust in him now, but Bosco was too head over heels for Cruz to care. He was falling for her pretty hard, and they were seeing each other a lot more now. But most of the time, their relationship was based mostly on sex. They'd spend the nights together, work in anti-crime together when they could, or even find an empty office up in ACU, for a five or ten minute quickie here and there. Not that Bosco ever had any objections to that much sex in the first place. He was a regular male Playboy.
In the squad car, Bosco couldn't help but notice Faith's sarcastic remarks, or the way she reverted everything he said back to Cruz somehow.
"So is every topic gonna lead back to me and Cruz now?" he asked her, raising an eyebrow.
"No, just trust," she retorted.
"Because what happens between us is none of your business," said Bosco.
"It would be impossible for me to overstate how uninterested I am in anything that happens between the two of you," Faith remarked. Bosco rolled his eyes and just shook his head. 'Jealous,' he thought.
All day long, no matter what Bosco tried to say, whether it related to Cruz or not, Faith would just make rude remarks about her, and it was pissing Bosco off. He had come to the conclusion that he was sick and tired of being pushed around and treated like her third child. She had always said to people how she had to carry him around like her kid. But Bosco had grown up a lot in the last year or two, and he was finally starting to see Faith for who she really was. And suddenly, Bosco wasn't the only one not being trusted here.
In the locker room, after work, they got into it again. Only this time, it wouldn't end in any nice words. It would end in seperation between the pair.
"I’m through justifying myself to you," Bosco said.
"And I’m through carrying around a three-year old," Faith told him.
"Right, I’m one of your kids," he nodded, sounding annoyed and angry.
"No, you couldn’t be one of my kids. My kids are mature," she said.
"No, I couldn’t be one of your kids because I actually see you."
That's really all it took. He insulted her several times with his comments, she called him a son of a bitch, and just like that, their partnership was through. No one knew what would be coming next.
~Ch. 23~
After that night at the precinct with Faith, Bosco hadn't said another word to her. He ended up back on anti-crime, working as Cruz's partner. She paired up Dade with one of her other better guys on the team, Glen Northcutt.
They were heading out to do a snitch operation one afternoon, when Swersky stopped them as they made their way down the stairs. He had Faith standing next to him. "Where are you three going?" he asked Cruz, Bosco, and Dade.
"Snitch operation," Cruz told him.
"You have the reports?" he asked her.
"Uh yes, sir, the desk has all the info for you," she pointed. He nodded at her to go ahead.
"We'll check in in a few hours, Lieu," she waved at him, as she and the other two headed for the doors. But Swersky stopped Bosco before he could leave.
"Bosco?" he called. Bosco turned around and nodded.
"Yeah?" he said.
Swersky glanced at Faith, nodding towards her a little and asked Bosco, "You okay with this?" He was referring to them splitting up, going their seperate ways as partners. Bosco paused, looked at her, and then nodded reassuringly.
"Yeah," he said, casually, before leaving the building. Faith looked pretty uncomfortable. It felt so wierd splitting up.
Bosco and Cruz went in an RMP together, and Dade drove seperate. He was the one posing as the drug dealer. They were going near Harlem to see if they could catch a seller or two. Dade got a perp in an expensive looking car to buy from him.
Meanwhile, while Cruz and Bosco were waiting for a signal, she turned her head and looked at Bosco. "So how's your partner?" she asked.
He paused and raised an eyebrow at her, saying, "What're you, concerned?"
Cruz shrugged a little and said with an amused grin, "No, she looked a little pissed off in her conference with the princible."
"We're splittin up," Bosco told her.
"Really?" Cruz asked, sounding quite surprised. Those two seemed like they were inseperable as partners in crime.
"Yep," he nodded, looking back at Cruz, "It's time."
"I thought Yokas was your girlfriend," she said, still with that same grin on her face. Except now, she looked a little more eager, along with amused.
Bosco looked back at her eyes, smirked and said, "I don't have a girlfriend," shaking his head. That made Cruz grin all the way from ear to ear, and she slowly turned around in her seat.
They sat there for another minute, until Cruz looked out their windhsield with binoculars, and said, "Come on Dade, give us the signal baby!" She said it kind of under her breath, as she looked on at the "deal" they had in progress. Just then, the guy slowly pulled away, turning a corner, and Dade turned his hat around, which gave them the signal to go after the perp.
"That's it," said Cruz.
Bosco turned on his siren and sped after the perp. He quickly pulled over, which surprised them, but Cruz was suspicious. She took the inside radio and said to the man through the speaker, "Take the keys out of the ignition and throw them on the ground."
The person slowly did. "Step out of the car with your hands up," she said. He got out of the car, forgetting to put his hands up right away, and rambled, "You don't have probable cause."
"Hands up!" she said, more sternly. He rolled his eyes and put his hands in the air.
The man looked no older than his lower forties, and he was probably younger than that. They guessed forty at the most. He had sandy brown hair, he was tall, and average size. Not skinny, but not fat.
"You got me?" Bosco said, still pointing his gun at the guy.
"I got you," he said. Bosco put his gun away to go search him, and Cruz kept her gun in her hands, just in case he tried pulling any quick moves.
"Hands on the back of the car," Bosco instructed him.
The man was very cooperative. "It isn't what you think," he said.
"Yep," said Bosco, as he pulled out a small bag of coke out of the man's coat pocket. He looked at Cruz and held it up, saying, "Just one big misunderstanding."
