Family Affair *Ch. 6*

Bosco changed into his street clothes after the shift and waited in the parking lot for Cruz, Monroe, or someone. Cruz was the first to walk out of the precinct doors.

She frowned, coming up to him. "How come you're still here?" she asked him.
"Whadd'ya 'talkin about? I just got off," he said.
"Well you were just 'standin here like you was waitin for somethin," said Cruz.
"Actually, I was waiting for you," he decided to tell her.
"Me? Why...?"
"Monroe invited me out to dinner with you two tonight. You never told me you and her like saw each other outside of work. How come?" he wondered aloud.
Cruz shrugged. "You never asked," she said, simply. "It's just burgers or something, not 'anythin fancy."
"Oh yeah, and what are you expecting her to say when she sees your stomach?" he asked. "Hmm?"
"Nothing," she said, giving him a wierd look. "I barely have a stomach, Bosco!"
"Cruz, come on. You're four months pregnant...well, just about that. You're wearin jeans and a maroon colored top. You don't think people can't tell that you're pregnant in that?" he asked.
"No," she said, "It's not like it's that noticeable yet. Relax, it's cool."
"I'm just sayin," said Bosco, throwing his hands up in the air, "You were the one who's been crazy about us keepin this under wraps."
"Yeah, and it still is, so don't give away any hints tonight, you got it?" she told him, sternly.
"Ohh, yes ma'am!" he mocked her with sarcasm, "My lips are sealed."
"I mean it, Bosco!" she said, as those raging hormones began to flare again.
"Relax!" he said firmly. "The only reason I'm even goin is to keep you from blurting it out."

He was starting to walk to his car when Cruz put her hands on her hips, and scoffed in disappointment.
"What does that mean?" she asked, her voice starting to sound nothing like Maritza Cruz. It sounded...well, hurt.
Bosco turned back around and quirked his eyebrow at her. He thought she was acting funny. "Cruz..." he said, trying to ease her worries, "I just don't want Monroe to hassle you about us and get suspicious of anything."
"Oh, so now you're ashamed of having a baby with me?" she said, turning things completely around. Her emotions had more twists and turns than a roller coaster at Six Flags.
"No!" he groaned loudly, "I didn't say that, alright? I'm only 'goin by what you've been 'tellin me."
"And what was that?" she asked curiously.
Bosco looked at her with his eyes much wider. But he kept his temper in check. He had done some reading about this whole pregnancy thing when he was home alone, who would find out anyways? But he had read about this sudden change in hormones in the mother.
"You don't want to tell people about our baby, right?" he asked her.
She shrugged. "No...but if Monroe were to ask, I mean she could probably keep a secret. She did with my rape and 'everythin.."
Bosco closed his eyes painfully at that memory. He hated to think about that. "What's the matter?" she asked, looking at him almost like she was really showing him concern.
"Nothing," he said quietly, "You caught me off gaurd there with the whole...rape thing."

Cruz kind of just stared at him for a minute. She still couldn't understand why he was so sincere with her lately. Or why he kept showing her his extra soft side. Maritza didn't even know Maurice had an extra soft side.
"Sorry," she mumbled, "Look, let's just go to the diner and get 'somethin to eat. I think Monroe is already on her way there."
"Alright...you uh..you want me to drive you?" he asked.
"But I got my car- -" she pointed, looking at him strangely.
He nodded. "We'll uh...we'll take my car to the diner, and then I'll bring you back here to get yours. How's that?"
"Okay, I guess," she gave in to him. Cruz didn't feel like driving there herself anyway.

He opened the door for her and she smiled at him shyly. When they drove to the diner, Bosco was thinking about offering to drive her home that night too. That is, if she would be comfortable leaving her car at the precinct overnight. It was parked in back by all the other cops, so it'd be safe. But there was no way Bosco would leave his precious Mustang there all night.
