Pager transmitters

It is interesting that my VHF ham gear and my VHF marine radio all hear intermods regularly. It is also interesting that in almost every case that the intermod has to do with a commerecial paging station. These people do not operate in a normal repeater mode. They frequently use another band to uplink their signals to the VHF pager transmitter which in turn spits out all kinds of garbage across the radio spectrum.

I think that these pager monsters should have to operate to the same standards as any other station operating in the normal repeat mode. We had a tip mounted Sinclare antenna on a commerecial tower until the local pager company mounted their antenna co-planed with our two meter repeater antenna.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what happened to the ham repeater operation. The overload and broad band garbage caused a total wipe out when using this antenna.
