Took 39 Years?

"I have been interested in Ham Radio since before I was 10 years old and have owned continously since the age of 10 atleast one piece of Amateur Radio Equipment. I have only been a Ham since March 21, 1991 and have also been retired and am really enjoying the experience that I have always dreamed about all my life. (My age is 57)."

Raymond, how come it took you 39 years to become a ham? While owning equipment and having an interest in the hobby!!!

"I no longer own any equipment that will operate above 10 meters with the exception of my IC 756 that will function on 6 meters for which I have never operated though. My main reason for not having any of the equipment that will tune in the Technician Class License holder is because I have absolutely no interest in what it is they are talking about"

I can't figure out why newcomers don't feel welcome.
