HF and Ham RadiobyWhile the statistics and HF band activity verify that HF is not the spectrum of choice that it once was, it should be noted that HF still has a place in the future of ham radio. In ten years, the baby boomers will be retiring en masse, and looking for something to do with their spare time. Ham radio fills the bill. Improvements in efficient small HF antennas will solve one problem; small, light, HF gear with digital capability built-in will solve another one. Remember that the Internet is in-place and vulnerable; radio can go anywhere. The telegraphic requirement will be dumped, as the old folks won't be able to handle the code that well. HF will be alive and well ten years from now. from IP address 206.98.239.13 Goto Forum Home |
