...wouldn't that make the weight of the 2nd stage less than the 1st's? And if that were true, wouldn't your finger pull right through the 2nd stage - making it useless?
When I design true 2-stage triggers (and I've done a few), one of the trickiest problems is often getting a large enough MA ratio between 2nd and 1st stage weights. I find anything less than about 1.2:1 means the trigger will be a failure, because the shooter won't be able to reliably pause his pull at the onset of the 2nd stage and use it for easy accuracy.
So it's a little hard to imagine why you'd want it to be less than 1:1.
