The telescoping piston leads to the idea of a telescoping pump arm.
Short arm, short "stroke" of your hands, until the effort becomes formidable.
Extend the pump arm, and the stroke of your hands increases proportional to the decrease in effort.
Short fast strokes at low pressure, extend and longer slower strokes at higher pressure.
Hmmm.....
I might like something like that on my 13xx, and I think I have some aluminum stock to prototype with.
