Response to So, let me make sure I'm understanding this correctly :

...then release the trigger before releasing the bolt. The sear on the new grip frame is catching on the 'waist' of the hammer. It needs to catch on the front of the hammer.

Order a solid hammer from Crosman or modify your existing hammer.

The notch on top of the hammer does not get filled. It is there so the hammer not crash into your breech screw.
