Yes, Isothermal doesn't fit well....

However, when you look at the resulting temperature for adiabatic expansion from, say 3000 psi, it is only 63*K (ie minus 210*C).... I don't think that is too likely either, for one thing the RMS molecular velocity would only be ~760 fps instead of 1650.... Once more, it's not as simple as we might hope, and I feel pretty confident that the result is in between the two curves.... My intuition tells me that the higher the initial pressure, the closer to isothermal because of heat gain during the shot....
