I've been wanting a stainless steel breach, or at least silver, and i've been looking around and it seems everyone only makes them in black

You can take the CB breech and polish it to a very nice shiny finish

Polished Aluminum looks great.

sand

May 15 2008, 12:06 AM

just sand with 240 grt, then go on up the ladder of grts to at least 600, then finish off with 0000 steel wool, it will shine like it was stainless.

or this?

Aluminum is easy to polish. I sand the machine marks off with 400-grit paper then use two different buffing wheels/compounds to bring up the shine. You can polish 'em to a mirror finish with a little effort. Takes maybe 2-hours total each, start to finish, including disassembly/reassembly.

Semichrome polish, which is available at motorcycle shops, is used to give aluminum engine casings the look of chrome. It has amonia and a fine grit in it and works extremely well in my experience.

Blue Magic can also be used... BUT ...

... I quote this from http://www.finishing.com/111/51.shtml

"Blue Magic and other polishes contain ammonia which can cause aluminum to oxidize and tarnish a lot faster than it should. Products with ammonia seem to work really good but they do more damage in the long run. Be careful what you use!"

There are several home-brew recipes at this site, you can check them out.
