I ordered a couple of "Spring Plungers", part# 84895A71, from McMaster-Carr. Plan to drill a hole through the top of the breech behind the loading port and push one of them up into the hole. Then take the bolt, groove a short lengthwise groove near the handle (back end), and a crosswise groove near the tip.
With the grooves strategically placed ... voila, a ball detent to hold the handle down while firing and the bolt back while loading.
We'll see if this works well or not! I'll post more when its done if anyone is interested.
Here's a tip, No need to groove, when you setup to drill the hole,

for the detent, have the bolt installed in the fully closed position, then use a center drill to locate and start the hole. Next get a drill that is a few thousands smaller than the diameter of the detent ball, now drill through the breech, and just into the surface of the bolt. Next retract the bolt, and repete with same drill. next remove bolt, and redrill hole in breech the tap drill size for the thread. Everything should line up perfectly. hth.

Great idea, Thanks!

That will work perfect for the one detent (definitely doesn't need groove)!
I was thinking a small groove would be best for holding the bolt back to allow for the bolt handle slop, but now that I think about it, the detent probably will take care of the slop.
