A while ago someone here mentioned the "Baby Powder Test". So I thought I'd give it a go...
I had been wondering how my transfer port mod was holding up (there used to be a permanent smear of oil in that area before I replaced the stock tube and washer)
So, 4 pictures: Transfer port area before and after, and bolt before and after:

It looks like I have a problem with my bolt seal!!!

Any ideas guys?

A few things...

Looks like a VERY messy test. I would be curious to know if you tried it with 1 ply\1 square of toilet tissue?

It could be one of these or a cobination:
Lead out of round
O-ring worn or undersized. Different make\material O-rings of the same size can have slightly different
O.D.'s
Bolt probe O-ring groove too deep.

I would start by shimming the O-ring withsomething to increase the diameter of it when it is on the probe. People use things like dental floss and teflon plummers tape in the groove and then slide the O-ring on top. If that doesn't improve the seal then you have to start looking closely at the dimesions of the parts to see how well they fit.

Probe\O-ring is the easiest place to start and I'll bet the problem can be resolved there.

O-Ring Issue

It looks like you have a CB breech, and I have the same problem with the O-ring being the weak point. Does anyone know what size o-ring that it should be, or what size I should step it up to.

Messy but effective!

Closer inspection revealed a split o-ring.

Replaced.

No leaks now.

Hurrah!!!
