I recently got back into tradewars after a long hiatus and am downloading and installing my helpers. I attempted to use Attac version 4 on a WIN2K system (2 different systems btw) and as soon as I start the program it immediately uses 100% resources and runs painstakingly slow.

So i tried version 3 and have no troubles with it.

Have you heard of this problem?

well, the simple answer is that v4 is not finished.
in any case. in about 1-2 weeks, i will release v4.1
which will no longer be a beta but a full version. i have made many changes, all of which i will announce when i release it.
