Never seen a review this positive... RICHARD OUZOUNIAN in the Toronto Star writes in his piece, Crowd calls it: Simply bewitching:
"It's wicked good.
I'm talking about Wicked, the musical version of Gregory Maguire's devilishly clever novel, which functions as a kind of prequel to The Wizard Of Oz.
In a season filled with revivals, or shows based on the songbooks of everyone from Boy George to Jerome Kern, it's a real treat to encounter a big, bounteous hit like this, with a joyous new score by Stephen Schwartz.
I saw the show this past week with a sold-out crowd that loved it from start to finish and in these tough times on Broadway, that's the exception rather than the rule.
Wicked is currently grossing more than $1 million (U.S.) a week and the only show playing to a higher percentage of capacity is The Producers, which is enjoying a temporary boost from the return of Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick.
In fact, it's safe to say that Wicked is the smash of the current Broadway season and the best part is that it's the audience who decided that."
