Majorly regretted joining up at 16 (seemed like a good idea at the time m'lord).
Hopefully I will go for a commision at some point. I Left school with V. good GCSE's, have now completed 4 A-levels whilst in the army, and am two years into a OU degree in History!!!. Probably get made up to Corporal before that though. Got offered a place on a corporals course before but turned it down becasue of personal reasons, academic work, and driving lessons!.

No regrets about the regiment though, although it does grate a bit stagging on all day with tourists stareing at you.

Sometimes when things were really though I wondered why I hadn't just joined an ordinary infantry unit.

The only regrets I ever had were in bootcamp. I remember thinking a few times, "I should have joined the air force." I wasn't really serious about it though, more a case of just being miserable.

I'd make all the same choices if I had to do it over again.

The American Marine Division has the highest combat effectiveness in the American armed forces. It seems not enough for our four divisions to surround and annihilate its two regiments.

LOL@bannerman

your not alone mate. when i was there i did advanced recce and sniper courses which pushed me through to instructor class for all units. which also put me in the BSS which is as you probably know the british sniping section. not exactly a unit in itself but more of a status of ability.
we had to reach incredable levels and the courses were very bloody tough. i have to go out at the moment but i'll give you more details when i get back

Trouble is Ben, if you look back regretting what you're in, wishing you'd taken a different route, chances are that if you'd taken that route you'd be in the same position wishing you'd taken the route you'd taken in the first place getting you to where you are now............phew!!! that was hard work.

James,

You'll have to let me know when you're stagging on timings, so I can come down & throw things at you

I take it your at wellington barracks? I get plenty of opportunity to go down to London so if you're up for a beer sometime, let us know.

Congrats Moughoun, and good luck in your career now that you will be an NCO.
