"when I get home people'll ask me,'hey Hoot, why do ya do it man? Why? Just some war junkie?' Ya know what I'll say? I won't say a goddamn word. Why? They won't understand. They won't understand why we do it. They won't understand it's about the man next to you, and that's it. That's all it is."

My former regiment, RMR, is really Royal Montreal Regiment, but otherwise known as "Run Monkey Run."

Otherwise, other units in the Montreal area were:

CGG: Canadian Grenadier Guards, or "Canadian Girl Guides"

Blackwatch: This is more interesting, because all Highlander regiments in Canada have the acronymn of RHC, or Royal Highlanders of Canada. We called the Blackwatch the "Blackcrotch." But to generalise all Highlander regiments, we took the RHC and called all of them "Real Hard Cocks."

LMAO

We don't have any humorous nicknames since our regiments are numbered. (ex. 3rd Marine Regiment)

The 5th Marine Regiment is known as the Fighting 5th.(the most decorated regiment)
The 1st Bn, 9th Marine Regiment was also known as the Walking Dead. It was disbanded (in the 80s I think) but it is going to be reactivated.

The American Marine Division has the highest combat effectiveness in the American armed forces. It seems not enough for our four divisions to surround and annihilate its two regiments.

Come on Gyrene, I know your USMC regiments are just dying to adopt names in order to have such nice nicknames!

Otherwise, I forgot to add that there are quite a few other regiments in Montréal, but they have French names and I don't think you'd understand them. And those were just infantry regiments, there are also armour, artillery, etc.

Some other Canadian regimental names (bear with me on the French-language ones) :

-->PPCLI is Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, or "Pickles"

-->Royal 22e Régiment is Royal 22nd Regiment, or "van Doos" because 22 is vight-deux in French, and thus "van Doos" is a bastardisation of the proper pronounciation

-->RCA is Royal Canadian Artillery, or "ReCock the Ass"

The Royal Anglians we called the angleirons, fvck knows why.
TA = Stabs or Stupid TA Bastards.

But as a Light Infantry soldier, just one derogatory term is used says it all, for all other regiments & thats 'redcoats', its us & them, 'green jackets' against 'redcoats'.

What about regimental songs (unofficial ones)
