I am on parachute training from 5. of may onwards, we´ll do 5 jumps after
3 weeks of training. 3 standard from transall, 1 nighttime, and 1 from
a bell helicopter.

who is a parachuter/has advice/stories/thoughts about it?

Para training isn't too terrible. Once you get over the initial worries of leaving an airplane while its still airborne & push yourself to jump, its actually quite fun.

You'll hear loads of advice, & most will be relevant, all i'll say is make sure to check your jump kit again, again & again.

Its when you start getting into the tactical side of para drops that it becomes a pain in the arse, but thats not your problem, its the problem of the corporals & serjeants!!!

they took me off the parachute course two days before it started. they need
me for training support with the Luftwaffe as a Wiesel commander. but they
promised that i will go on the next parachte course. anyways the luftwaffe
manoeuvre is great fun, i think ill write about it on another thread.
btw we do similar manoeuvres with the RAF as well (its basically about
pilots beeing grounded in enemy land and having to avoid beeing captured
by evil fallschirmjägers... we allways get them its just a matter of time...
hehehe)

all with the sportive Section. No military or Op drops. Classic Aerazur TAP 65-20 circular canopy. Anything i can tell you about that might interest you?
Only two words of advice, first if you can, ;earn to pack your chute, you'll understand it better, second at the door, don't look under you, look to the horizon line and think that you want to get there...

My command sergeant organized a civilian para course when I was in the army, so I cant comment upon the military aspects. I didnt take enough jumps to begin packing my own shute, co cant comment upon that either.

As to the jump itself, prepare for the moment when you actually realize that you are going to jump out of a plane.

My first jump was from a cessna or some such, and I was the last of 5 friends to jump. We were packed in facing the back, so it only hit me I was actually going to drop when I turned around and my four friends were gone.

I then climbed out the plane, stood on one landing wheel and held on to bar going from the side of the plane to the wing. The is probably one of the harder choices I have had to make: tread out into the open air while I was hanging from the bar. After that, actually letting go of the plane was no biggie, and to be honest the drop itself wasnt that impressive - just farms and fields sizing up from miniature to natural size.

If you are dropping from a Transall, the overcoming of the compulsion to shy away from jumping a kilomerter+ is probably going to be the biggest problem.

I always jumped with chutes that I had packed myself... except once. I really didn't like it that one time as I though if anyone was going to get into trouble with one that I had packed I wanted it to be me.

The chute packing and deployement sequency is different but basically, the main thing is to look forward to the horizon. Not down. Focuse on what have been thougtht to you during ground training not on what you see below you. if you want to see or look to anything look forward. Next check on the correct opening of your main. go through the drills don't let adrenaline control you but use it to do what best for a given situation. In a wor. Stay up our mind..

He was very much in the Bundeswehr, he joined it when he was known as CARLO.
Everything he described when he was training was spot on, and could not have known it without being in the German army.
As for the nazi militaria stuff, it may be illegal, but it is available, hell, you can even find it at flea markets in Germany, and Vjak can confirm this, and that is open space.

not as a military paratrooper but with my university aviations club i took week of parachuting training.
i was a volunteered and looking down before the jump really enjoyed me:P
the first 2 days arw usually spent on the ground and let you get enough courage. as an advice before you go, you can try tower jumps to get used to jump into the space.. the most scary pasrt is the jumping.. after a few secs all your fear disappears. and be careful with the landing. i wish icould jump at night...
