This is COMPLETELY THEORETICAL. It has very little supporting evidence, other than this one scene. However, I suspect that the parrallel universes each have a little... flexibility to them. That small changes can be made without rewriting everyone's memory. Two small scars on the hands? Barely noticable, not worthy of it's 'own universe.' The trauma to his classmates would be considerably greater, but perhaps the teacher was quick enough in covering that up. Perhaps. Any great change, however, would merit a shift in reality, at least as Ashton understood it.
It makes me wonder how long Ashton had been traveling in time. Perhaps, each time he read the journal, knowingly or not, he traveled. When he did so before, however, he simply relived the events, exactly as they happened in 'real life.' And then blanked it out? Not likely. But possible. |
