Thats the nature of the beast, but never the less people who do use the large numbers should know about the details before hand not after and it helps when you talk to banks to know your stuff, even if you do not pack it in the difficult words. I agree sometimes the phD's tend to be difficult and make things out almost as a language barrier but its like mathematics, its a language in itself and the guys who deal in it every day have developed a certain writing style which indeed is different than whats around normally, still it should be worth to read.
