Treasury sells 7-year notes at 3.092%

By Deborah Levine

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- The Treasury Department sold $28 billion in 7-year notes on Thursday at a yield of 3.092%, finishing its last debt sale of the week. Bidders offered $2.74 for every dollar of debt available, compared to an average of $2.50 at the last four auctions of 7-year debt. Indirect bidders, a group of investors that includes foreign central banks, bought 61.2% of the sale. During the last two sales of the securities, after a change in the way bids were tallied, indirect bidders bought at least two-thirds of the debt. The broader bond market remained mixed, with short-term debt supported by a report that more banks remain in trouble. Ten-year note yields /quotes/comstock/31*!ust10y (UST10Y 3.43, 0.00, -0.03%) , which move inversely to price, rose 1 basis point to 3.45%.

***** "Its time to take another look at the short US Treasury bond ETF (TBT). I first recommended this 200% leveraged bet that long dated bonds were going down big time in January at $35, catching a near double to $60 (click here for report) at www.madhedgefundtrader.... We have now retrenched back to $45, and its time to reload the boat. The US government has now committed to $9.1 trillion in debt issuance over the next ten years. Foreign governments will need to borrow as much to fund their own bail out/stimulus programs. Did I mention inflation? There is absolutely no way the ten year can maintain a 3.40% yield in the face of this onslaught. It is clear that zero short rates are driving investors, many of whom will only buy Treasuries, into making terrible investments. This is what the awesome bid to cover ratio of 3.2X for todays three year auction is telling you. The dollar clearly sees this and is hitting a new one year low. Its just a matter of time before bond investors put on their bifocals and see the locomotive that is about to run over them." *****      I liked the idea so I am posting it for all to read... The idea of the dollar being under pressure seems to be popular today.. far be it from me not to be up to date and hip.   Be well all, JW

I can't understand why anyone could justify the tax savings as a reason... TIPS are even but they where moving last week..

I like B of A... I see 100% in 12 months.. (if bought properly).. I see presure coming and buys all over the place.. looking for some new 12 month lows or close enough to the 12 month lows that I will be going in.. Right now.. I am out.. in total.. I dont not own a.. not 1 stock anywhere.. on or offshore..

I am not riding the "W" up and down.. I will be cash rich and suffer for the moment.. I see light though at the end of the tunnel so all is well.

I do see a run on Gold.. I was hoping the world would settle down.. but $1,000 (US) plus.. all day..

If anything this year I may for the first time in history (My History) close the books late.. just to be able to be into something minus the cash on hand..

I cant believe "G" and Tony the two (2) of you didnt like a 3% return? What are you guys wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy smarter than that..

And I was bumping the post to be next to the anti US money thread from Richard's buddy.. as support.. if you followthe link on that one it shows a $2.00 (verse or equals Euro from last January).. seems to be on track(ish)..

What happened to fishing with a stop for some surfing.. and where is Will? anyone heard from him or is he off working? I hope he is well is why I am asking you two.. I know we all talk off board.. just wondering if he had popped up and is ok is all.

Be well fella's, JW
