Bank employee indicted on bank fraud charges
HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - A Huntsville woman charged with stealing money from the bank she worked at was indicted Wednesday.
48-year-old Keleste Sherrill was an employee at Southbank. She is accused of taking more than $500,000 from the bank's ATM machines and vault over five years.
In the indictment, Sherrill is accused of using the ATM ledgers and avoiding bank surveillance cameras from January 2004 to August 2009.
"Financial institution fraud poses a threat to our nation's banking system," said FBI Special Agent in Charge Patrick Maley. "The public can rest assured that when these frauds occur, the FBI will pursue those responsible."
She faces charges of bank fraud. If convicted, she could see up to 30 years of prison time and a fine of $1 million.
