I'm ready for Spring!!February 5 2004 at 12:05 PM | Racine (no login) |
| While I'm used to lots of snow and ice, I'm used to it in South Dakota where we can still get out and have things to do. School is never cancelled there. Needless to say this is getting quite old and boring I must say. At least we have some good books to read!! |

Racine,
Is it that West Virginian's haven't figured out how to travel in snow? Or is it that the snow is somehow different here, more crippling maybe? I am very curious as to how Canadians and people from the Dakotas (yes, I know you aren't Canadian) seem to function in this weather.
Please enlighten me,

I don't feel it's a WV problem, I think it's that this entire area is at a great disadvantage because the weather is so unpredictable. It seems that it is so much harder to budget and know just how much equipment and salt is needed from year to year. I know this county doesn't have much to work with but I think they do a great job with what they have. We also enjoyed outdoor ice-skating and other activities due to the great rec program that operates through the city. In fact, I met my husband while he was employed at our neighborhood ice rink. Here, it doesn't get cold enough for long enough to be able to have those things. I wish it did, we have a pond I'd be using! |
