...through the eras.
Dolly Mixture @ Stereo - Friday, April 15
Our aim is to give full respect to the women who have penned the songs, innovated rather than imitated and created the shakes to drive music forward over the years.
It doesn't matter if it's indie, soul, rock, country, electro, or pop. If it works on the dancefloor we'll play it whether chart popstar, raucous riotgrrl, indie queen, french chanteuse, 60s rockette or soul diva.
We plan to throw Dolly, Debbie, The Detroit Cobras and Dot Allison into the monster dolly mix with Patti, Pebbles, PJ and Peaches.
All are welcome whether boy, girl, man, woman or ape. We will even squeeze some guys in with the dolls...if yer lucky punks.
Our launch evening features a live set from new Glasgow indie 'boy' band Dot to Dot.
This upbeat five-piece already have a fan in the shape of Belle and Sebastian's Stuart Murdoch. We insist they wear feather boas and lipstick in keeping with the flamboyant mood.
However, if we cannot twist their arms until they submit then the odd girl band cover may find its way into their repertoire.
The Dolly Mix ladies and friends will each play DJ sets and we also have Barfly's delightful Eyes Wide Open guest DJs joining us on the decks.
Oh, and we will add a few glam 'finishing' touches at the launch which, naturally, we're keeping under wraps. So pull on your kinky boots or cuban heels and make haste.
