There is a girl I have seen every week on Friday evenings for as long as I can remember. She has always had thick, shiny, dark brown, wavy hair, usually tailbone length. Our hair is actually quite similar, only hers is a bit straighter, less frizzy, and thicker (the perfect version of my hair, LOL!)

When I cut my hair, I used hers for inspiration to keep growing out. "My hair will look as pretty as this when it's long," I told myself. Then, finally, my hair did grow out, and a few months ago I noticed she cut it. Now, I don't talk to her or anything, so I couldn't ask her why. Besides, it was still a bit past waist length. I'd say about 4-5" were off. It was still beautiful!

Tonight I saw her again (after not seeing her for ages while I was in London). The top part of her hair was covered in a dupatta (a thin, shawl-like covering used to cover the head and chest) and then back part looked really thin and scraggly! I thought that she might have put some of it up in a bun and that's why it looked thinner.

Finally, when the dupatta came off, I had a good look. The top part was just back in a clip, so all the hair I had seen was all she had "left." Her hair was heavily layered (though still around waist length), darker (maybe she dyed it?), MUCH thinner, and tapered to nothing. Her hair used to be thicker than mine and thick all the way to the bottom, and now it was tapering to less than an inch!

On shorter hair, maybe BSL or above, this hair cut would have looked very good. There was a nice wavy texture, layers that would have flattered the face, a nice color, and a thicker look perhaps. But on hair that is as long as hers, it was very badly cut and looked so much worse than her previous hair . Of course, I didn't say anything - I wouldn't say anything even if I knew her! Whether or not she was happy with the cut, it's her hair and it's not my place to say anything about it. But now my hair is thicker and longer than my hair idol's! Oh, well. She is still very pretty and as long as SHE is happy then it's okay .

Love,
~*Leia*~
