Hennaed!

First I shampooed all my hair with Timotei Cucumber shampoo to cleanse it so that the color stays better. I read this in Madeleine's instructions. So, while my hair was drying in a towel, I mixed up 1 and a half squares of Lush Caca Brun with 2 tablespoons indigo and added boiling water. I also got some plastic gloves. My hair was damp when I applied the henna.

Before applying the henna, I put some olive oil on my hairline because I didn't want black stains all over my forehead . Then I leaned over the tub and just glopped all of the henna into my hair. I find it really hard to get henna and herbal mixtures into all of my hair because my hair is so thick and I miss spots really easily. Anyway, I tried to spend a lot of time and really get it all in. Then I bunned it and put whatever little was left on my front hairline (I didn't have to be thorough with this because I am trying to match my length to my scalp hair).

I couldn't find my plastic shower cap, so I put on a cloth cap and a towel on top. I slept with it in and rinsed in the morning. I rinsed for about 10-15 minutes till the water ran clear. Then I dumped my length into my ACV mixture (2 tablespoons ACV with 2 cups tap water) and poured the rest on my scalp, letting it drip down. I let it sit for a few seconds while I went to get my shampoo, conditioner, and comb. Then I rinsed, and the water still looked quite clear.

I applied my very heavy and moisturizing conditioner on all of my length and combed through. This is the first time I have ever done that and I am glad I did so! It loosed bits of henna on my scalp and bits that were still in my hair, plus it made my hair feel heavenly soft while rinsing. Before rinsing, though, I put the Body Shop Honey Moisturizing Shampoo all over my scalp (just because my scalp likes this shampoo so much!) Then I rinsed, and lo and behold, the water was a little green! I rinsed for a few more seconds, then squeezed the water out and put it in a towel.

It is currently drying in a towel, and I don't have much time because I have to change and get to Leadership Academy. However, I plan on putting a tiny bit of oil and leave in on the ends and bunning to dry. I took a before pic and will be adding an after pic as soon as my hair dries. Oh - and I want to try sock curls tonight.

Love,
