New routine!

This is not much different from my old routine, except the deep conditioning. I have learned that my hair cannot handle too much conditioner, especially when I leave it in overnight, so a special friend recommended that I put the conditioner in while I have my once-a-week "pretty bath," so that it soaks for 20 minutes and doesn't leave my hair as greasy and lank.

Here is my new routine.

Washing:
I wash once a week. On Friday night, I apply a mixture of Indian herbs and leave them in overnight, rinsing and shampooing my scalp in the morning. The next week, I will deep condition. I used to do this overnight as well, but now I do it in the day, and leave the conditioner in for 10-20 minutes; however long my bath ends up being.

Products:
When I want to scalpwash, which is about once a week, I will use one of my Lush solid shampoos (Karma Komba, Stimulating Spice, or Dr. Peppermint) or my Timotei "Refreshing Cucumber" shampoo. I have used "Caring" conditioner for more than 2 years now; it is a product that never fails to condition and perfectly detangle my hair. It is good for deep conditioning or normal conditioning. Though I don't use it much anymore because I have problems with overconditioning, it is one of my favorite conditioners. Unfortunately, it is not available anywhere but Bangkok. I also use Lush Arabian Bright, John Frieda's Miracle Masque and Kelp Help, and Proactiv protein treatment. Oh, and of course, my favorite shampoo - Body Shop Honey Moisturizing Shampoo!

Herbs:
I use Indian herbs to cleanse and condition my hair. Read more about that here.

Detangling:
I use a wide-toothed comb for detangling and styling purposes. I have one plastic one, which I use on wet hair, and one LHC from Ric the Combmaker, in White Oak.

Leave-in:
I use shea butter for my leave-in most of the time, which I apply to the end of my braid overnight on most nights. Sometimes, in the morning, after applying almond oil to my face, I run my fingers through the length of my hair.

Oiling:
I find oiling my hair is one of the most beneficial things I can do. I use olive oil, almond oil, and bhringraj oil. My favorite method of removal is herbal cleansing (see above, under herbs).

Trimming:
I trim as often as needed according to the Morrocco Method trim dates, found here.
I use Feye's method for trimming your own hair.

At my last measure in, I was at almost 37". I am adding this information in here so that those reading this can have an idea of how long my hair was when I had this routine.

Oh! And check out my sig. Carlynn made me a GORGEOUS dolly. She is such a sweet and special lady for making me one. It really looks like me, too! I love it!

Love,
