My hair is a bit piecy and stringy today; I used a lot of oil yesterday so maybe the herbs didn't quite clean all of it off. I'm sure it will be better once it properly dries and I comb through it. I'm trying to hold off on combing, because the humidity is giving me such nice waves
Yesterday, I oiled my scalp with EverydayMehndi Lavender Hair Growth Oil, and I slathered bhringraj oil on my length. I put it up in a high bun and let the oil soak in for about 7 hours! I had just finished my last exam, so I was spending a quiet day at home
. Then I made a paste of:
- 1 tablespoon indigo powder
- 1 tablespoon shikakai powder
- 1 tablespoon amla powder
- 1 tablespoon aritha powder
- 1 tablespoon chandan powder
- 1 tablespoon bhringraj powder
I mixed it with hot water and applied it to the length of my hair. Then it was in all night, tucked under a shower cap and a towel. I rinsed it at about 8 this morning - now it's 2.40, and my hair is still damp. Oh, and I also shampooed my scalp with my Body Shop Honey Moisturizing Shampoo.
The indigo doesn't seem to have
blackened my hair, which is good, because black isn't my natural color, but I think that mixed with the herbs, the indigo helped bring my natural dark brown to the bottom length that is usually more reddish. The red is still there, but less than before.
Oh! I also met a new person on LHC. Her name is Mariam, and she's from India, too.

I measured my hair when it was wet today, and noticed that if I pull it down all the way, then it's very close to classic length. However, when it is dry and wavy, there are at least 4-6" to go before I can call it classic. I think that is definitely my new goal! I will try to maintain it when I get there and maybe thicken up my ends a bit, if they need it. I'll still measure every month, and just trim off the new growth.
Now I am in a writing mood, so I am off to write in my offline journal
