I checked the lunar charts hoping for a trim (I didn't trim last month!) and today is the day for thickening, so off to trim I go!

Post-trim picture

April 2 2005, 1:21 PM

Here is a picture I took after my trim:

My scalp is still damp from my scalp wash in the picture. I only trimmed off about 1/4". A quick dry measurement said I was at around 36.9" (0.5" growth), but I will wait until I wash my hair to do my official wet measurement. My length looks SO light to me! Maybe a henna treatment soon is in order... I did one last year at this time, too. I think all the travelling and being in the sun in March made my length a bit lighter, which I don't like at all. Maybe I can henna next wash, and then measure? That would be tomorrow night. Sounds like a plan!

Love,

Fantastic day!

April 2 2005, 2:40 PM

I've had such a great day, and it's only 2.30. The past week, I have been on Spring Break, and I have been going out a LOT - watching movies at friends' houses, going to dinner, doing karaoke... it was all a lot of fun, but it was really unlike me. I usually finish all of my work the first day of break, but I have been putting it off. I was also supposed to practise piano 6 hours a day, but I haven't been because I've been out so much. I've hardly gotten 3 hours a day! I could say that it's because I injured my wrists playing piano last month and they still hurt a lot (which they DO), but I don't like to blame other things when it was clearly my fault and I should have practised more... especially if I want to get into the Royal Academy of Music!

Anyway, my dad's friend is an astrologer, and he told me that he thinks that I have been slacking off, and if I continue to do so I will have problems with school in 2007. That will be my second year of university. I am probably going to be accepted into a crap music university in 2006, because my auditions this year will be awful (I haven't been practising 6 hours a day! Argh! My fault!) and I thought that my first year I would work hard and then go to the Royal Academy or the Royal College of Music my second year, 2007. However, if I keep slacking off... I too think that I need to buckle down and work hard. So I played piano all morning, taking regular breaks to ensure that my wrist doesn't get too damaged. I think I got about 4 hours in. Then I did my AP Chem homework (my other homework I finished a few days ago), and after writing this entry I am going to work on my programme notes for my piano exam this summer. I still have 2 days of break left, but I have planned a huge surprise for my friend's birthday tomorrow and I will be out all day, plus in the morning I have to help 4 boys with a song they are singing for the talent show, so I really have to finish off all of my work today.

Also, one of my friends called me to ask me if I wanted to come over and watch a movie (we have done it so often this break, but it was really fantastic because we set up a projector at a friend's house and put in comfy couches and everything - so comfortable!) but I told him no, because I really have to work today. Yeah, I COULD take 2 hours off, but I don't want to. I've committed myself to a day of work, with 15 minute breaks every couple of hours (don't want to overwork myself!) so a day of work I must have .

Okay, my break is over now! I should probably french braid my hair as soon as my scalp dries so that it stays out of my face! It is particularly annoying when I start jumping around on the piano, LOL!

Leia, signing off with a huge grin on her face, happy that she is back to her normal "nerdy" and "unsociable" self!

Love,
~*Leia*~

The last day of Spring Break is here!

April 4 2005, 9:48 AM

The past couple of days have been fantastic. When I last posted, I was taking a break from my programme notes. That ended up taking 4 hours, but I finally got it done. I got some non-musicians to read it (it has to be interesting, well-written information that does not have too many technical words, so a general audience can understand it) and they said it was really good. Even my MOTHER said it was well-written, which is a superb compliment!

Ooh, a quick side-track note, I might have mentioned this but a (really horrible and rushed) story I submitted to an online magazine accepted it for publication! Yay!

Okay - back to my programme notes. It is only the first draft so there is still a lot of room for improvement. It's not due till JULY, so I have TONS of time. Ooh, I also registered for my exam, so they will be e-mailing me with the dates soon!

Since I spent all of Saturday working and playing piano, I felt I had the right to spend all of Sunday out and about . I left at 11 in the morning to buy one of my best friends a birthday card and a necklace. Her other presents include: Davidoff Echo perfume (okay, I just liked the bottle!), some eyeliner (she LOVES eyeliner), and 3 products that I made for her. I'll write more about them later, because I might end up selling/swapping some like them on the Loom swap board.

Then, after buying the card, I went to a voice rehearsal (I am the voice coach for a quartet of boys singing "Sugar Pie Honey Bunch" for our talent show this month) for an hour, and then came home to have a quick lunch. I dropped off some money at my friends house to pay for dinner - it ended up being 3000 taka, which is about $43, but you can buy a lot more stuff here for $43 than you can in America. Anyway, at 2 PM I went to pick up Esther, my friend whose birthday surprise I had planned.

I would not tell her where we were going! I picked up two guy friends, and we were on our way to Ashulia, which is an hour outside of Dhaka. First, we went go-carting, which was tons of fun! I wore my hair in a french braid and it was fantastic for the day. The last time I went go-carting I drove SO slowly because I was scared, and this time I drove a little faster - although not crazily like my friends! Then, after go-carting, we took her to a theme park and a place called Water World. We went on lots of rides, then got into our swimming suits and had fun at Water World. My french braid stayed intact and kept my hair out of my face!

By the time we were done at both those places, it was 6.30. I had to drop everyone home, and by the time I got home it was 7.50, but we had planned a dinner at 8! So I had to get ready as fast as possible. I just rinsed through my hair in my shower to get all the dirty water out, but I knew I would be washing it later so I didn't bother with that. I quickly put on nice jeans and a pink top (oh yeah, Esther dared me not to wear black all week, so I am trying!) and was out of the door. I left my hair down but I took some sticks to put half of it up later when it was in my face.

I blindfolded Esther and took her to my friend Ifrad's house. At Ifrad's, he arranged to buy all of Esther's favorite foods. We had made a list the previous night and got everything she absolutely adores . Arriving at his house, I opened the door slowly and took off the blindfold, and everyone shouted "surprise!" She was really ecstatic! I even got her to wear her gorgeous new pink and white striped dress that she bought in Malaysia. It looked fantastic on her, but I was in such a rush that I didn't remember to take my camera . My friends took pictures, though!

It was a small dinner, only about 20 people present; all of Esther's closest friends. After dinner we started watching a movie, but it was "American Wedding" and after watching it for a few minutes, I decided it was a bit too vulgar for me! So I decided to leave. Esther didn't like it either, so I dropped her home. Before being dropped off she told me that she had a great day! I am so happy!

Today, I am going to bake her a cake and take her the presents. Oh yeah - about the three things I made. I made a hair conditioner, a glittery body lotion, and a face scrub; all lavender-scented because they are her favorite. I even wrote up a leaflet of the products (I will make a post that is a reply to this one and put some of what is in the leaflet up) so it would make them sound like professional products . It was quite funny! Anyway, I hope she likes them!

Oh, yes! I got home at almost 11 last night, and was really tired, but it was henna night! So I made a henna mixture with some shikakai added to it, applied it to my length and a little to my scalp, and left it on all night. This morning, I rinsed well, dunked my hair in an ACV mixture, and then left the ACV rinse on for a minute while I got my plastic wide-toothed comb and conditioner. After rinsing out the ACV, I put conditioner on my length and combed through. I had to make sure to comb my scalp very well also! A LOT of henna gunk came out. Then I rinsed the conditioner out, shampooed my scalp with Body Shop Honey Moisturizing Shampoo, rinsed, and put my hair in a towel to dry. Now that it has been drying while I typed this journal entry, it should be the perfect wetness to comb through and measure!

Love,
~*Leia*~

My products!

April 4 2005, 10:05 AM

Oops, I forgot that I was supposed to ACV after the conditioner! Oh, well, I hope it doesn't turn out too badly! Conditioner usually leaves my hair overconditioned. Ack! I'm crossing my fingers, hoping it is not too bad.

Here is the leaflet I made for Esther!

LeiaStyle©

Welcome to LeiaStyle© products! It is a whole new line of exciting, tantalizing products designed to suit your body and hair! Let us delve into each product you have obtained today – all part of our all-new LavenderLine - and see how they work for your body!

LavenderLine Hair Masque
This exotic hair conditioner will work with your tired-out tresses to revive them and bring them instant shine and softness! A combination of softening and straightening agents will leave you with hair that is more conditioned than ever before. Let us take a peek into some of the ingredients.

Shea butter – the age-old LeiaStyle© trademark ingredient. It didn’t get its place on the LeiaStyle© ingredient shelf by any stroke of undue luck! This ingredient works with dry hair to revive and instantly renew the condition of the hair shaft.

Protein – this ingredient will make your hair fuller and more manageable. Hair is made up of protein, and adding extra to it will increase volume and fullness.

Olive oil – this ingredient has been used through the centuries on women’s hair, acting as an emollient and conditioner to make hair softer and stronger.

Lavender and other spicy herbs – While mainly added for the scent, lavender and other various spicy herbs can be used on the scalp for a tingly sensation and increased hair growth.

Now, you must be asking – I have this wonderful hair masque with all these superb ingredients; how do I use it? Well, ask no more, for here are the quick instructions for hair masque use.

1. Wet hair down completely, shampoo, and rinse.
2. Apply LavenderLine Hair Masque.
a. For increased growth or scalp stimulation, massage it into the scalp.
b. For only conditioning purposes, apply the masque to the length of the hair, from the ears down.
3. Leave the masque in your hair for as long as possible. Covering with a shower cap and then a towel allows you to leave it in your hair for a longer time, without your hair coming in your face. Apply with heat if necessary (heat allows the conditioning agents to penetrate the hair shaft more thoroughly, leaving even more conditioned hair) or leave it overnight if possible.
4. Rinse the hair masque out, and enjoy your new silky tresses!

LavenderLine Body Lotion
This yummy, glitter-infested body lotion is filled with great ingredients to make your skin soft, smooth, and smelling spectacular. Here is a quick overview of the most active ingredients.

Shea butter – just like for the hair, shea butter is great for the skin! It softens and smoothes your skin and leaves it with a beautiful, healthy glow.

Lavender – this is mainly for scent, but lavender is infused with healing, calming, aromatherapeutic properties.

Glitter – purely for fun! The glitter is subtle enough so that your body isn’t shining like a disco ball, put pretty enough so that you sparkle in the light.

Use this lotion as you would normal body lotion. It can be used everywhere – arms, legs, neck, etc, except for the face, unless you want your face to glitter as well! The driest parts of the body, the elbows, knees, and heels of the feet, will be intensely moisturized by this lotion. Caution: If used on the heels of your feet, make sure you put on socks or sandals immediately afterward, in case you slip while walking.

LavenderLine Face Scrub
A never-before tried, absolutely new, LavenderLine Face Scrub is on the market for the first time! Use it as you would a normal face scrub (such as apricot), but be certain you only use very little, because this is a moisturizing scrub and may leave you with too much oil! Also lavender-scented, make sure that you do not use this product around or on your eyes, in case a tingling sensation persists. If it does, rinse off immediately.
Love,
~*Leia*~

And the craziness begins! :)

April 5 2005, 9:07 PM

Now that school has started, everything is hectic again! I have my AIS/D Idol performance in just two days! I am singing "Close to You" by The Carpenters, and dedicating it to my mum. It was the first song I ever learned how to sing, because she used to sing it to me

Also, my AP exams are coming up! I have AP English Language on May 2 and AP Chemistry (ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh) on May 10! This year I think I have it bad, but wait till next year when I have to take 5 AP's! EEK!

My hair is greasy and stringy, as always, when I use conditioner. My hair just doesn't like conditioner of any kind anymore! I don't know why. I thought I would leave it down for my Idol performance, but seeing as how it is disgusting and I don't have time to wash it, I might put it in a low bun. I am going to wear a long, white dress and put a pretty orchid in my hair .

Back to my mounds and mounds of work!

Love,
~*Leia*~

A hectic week!

April 8 2005, 2:56 PM

Life can be so hectic sometimes . All of Wednesday and Thursday I wasn't home except to sleep and get ready in the mornings! On Wednesday, I had violin class, then I had to go be a judge for the talent show, then practise with Esther to be her backup singer for AIS/D Idol. By the time I got home, it was bedtime!

Then yesterday, Thursday, was the MOST hectic day ever! First, I had to stay after school for both an AIS/D Idol sound-check and talent show judging. All of that finished at 5.40, and I had to be back at school at 6.20 (which means leaving at 6.10), and I had to get ready for Idol first! I wore a long, white, simple dress, with very little make-up - just some eyeliner, mascara, and lip gloss - and a bright yellow flower in my hair. I put my hair in a low bun secured with hairpins. I wanted to leave it down, but it was disgusting since the henna and I didn't have time to wash it. I didn't use pretty hairtoys because I wanted the flower to be the special thing, not my hair, dress, or make-up .

I sang "Close to You," by the Carpenters. It's the first song I ever learned how to sing, when I was a little girl. My mother used to sing it to me, and I only ever heard the original a couple of months ago, after singing the song for 16 years . Before I started, I dedicated it to my mother, and I sat on a stool with a bright red flower behind me. In the middle of the song, there was a trumpet interlude, and I went down the steps, found my mother in the audience, and gave her the red flower. She was so touched, I think she was crying. All the judges and everyone said that they couldn't believe I had done something like that, and that most teenagers are embarrassed to admit that they love their parents, but I didn't understand that, because I do love my mother, and I'm not afraid for anyone to know that! She is an awesome lady. Everything I'm good at is because of her continual support and love for me. She is the best!! Anyway, the judges were really touched, and they also had only nice comments about my singing performance. My choir teacher said that I had good vowel enunciation, LOL! That is such a choir teacher thing to say . But I am really happy overall, even though I wasn't voted in the top 3, because I had a good time, my mother was happy, and a really good friend of mine won. No regrets there! I don't often win things, because I am not really popular (probably because I mostly keep myself to myself, but that is just my personality!) but I like who I am. I like that people thing of me as calm and nice, and that I am not one of the "hated" girls. I may not be Miss Popular, but I have great friends, a great family, and a great life. I truly am blessed to be able to experience such a wonderful life.

Wow, I am in such a rambly mood today! I was supposed to help a friend of mine with some vocal training, but it turns out he is busy this afternoon, so I will probably spend it studying for AP Chemistry and playing piano, because I haven't done much of either the past couple of days. I don't like to do anything unless I give it my all. I am not the best scientist in the world - heck, not even in my AP Chemistry class! - but I still give it my all, because what is the point in doing something at all if you aren't going to try to excel in it? I am okay with the fact that I am not exceptionally talented in any one thing. I just hope that my one passion - playing piano - is something that will continually improve so that I can be accepted to one of my top music university choices. If not, I will go to a lower standard university, work as hard as possible, and then transfer out after a year if I can.

Okay, enough talk. My wrists are starting to hurt again. I need to rest them so that I can play piano! And yay - tonight is herb night, so I can get this horrible grease out of my hair! Finally!!

Love,
~*Leia*~

I added a new herb to my herbal wash!

April 9 2005, 9:53 AM

Yesterday, I couldn't find my bhringraj and sandalwood, so I was looking through my full supply. I found ghritkumari (Indian aloe vera, in powder form) and methi (fenugreek). I didn't want to use the ghritkumari in case it was drying, but I did use the methi! I also started a new packet of sandalwood, and this one is of much better quality.

Before the wash, I oiled my already disgusting, wet-looking, greasy hair; Lavender Hair Growth Oil on the scalp (mmm, it felt great) and bhringraj oil on the length. I let it sit for about 2 hours. Then I made my herbal mixture:

- 1 tablespoon neem powder
- 1 tablespoon bhringraj powder
- 1 tablespoon sandalwood powder
- 1 tablespoon amla powder
- 1 tablespoon aritha powder
- 1 tablespoon shikakai powder
- 1 tablespoon methi powder

I mixed all of this with some boiling water and applied it to my hair. I noticed immediately that something was different. This mixture was soft and felt really nourishing and conditioning! It could be either the new sandalwood or the methi. I will have to experiment and see if I can pinpoint the herb. However, I hope that the moisturizing quality didn't stop the herbal mixture's ability to cleanse out all of the disgusting oiliness from the past week! My hair is still really wet, and I am letting it air dry. Hopefully it will come out looking nice

Love,
~*Leia*~

Taking a break...

April 10 2005, 6:26 PM

I am taking a break from studying right now. Today I had tons of work: Pre-Calculus worksheets on sine and cosine - right now we are doing cos(a+B)=cos(a)cos(B)-sin(a)sin(B) which is simple, just the same thing over and over! - an English essay comparing and contrasting my childhood in my old house to my teens in my new house, a French article to read, and AP Chemistry exam review. Whew! I worked for 2 hours, and now I am taking a break, because my brain is getting all jumbled up .

This is the second year I applied for a place in the National Honor Society, and I got declined again. I don't know what it is! Last year they said I didn't have enough leadership, and this year I became Secretary of French Honor Society. Then, this year, the NHS advisor came up to me and said that while I have "exemplified the qualities that NHS is looking for," (I think it's leadership, community service, scholarship, honors and awards, and jobs), I am a leader in a "quiet" way and I need to be a more outspoken leader. I don't understand. I thought it would be better to be a leader in a quiet way! I really don't understand why I didn't make it this year. It really upset me, because I worked really hard for it, especially on my essay. I have TRIED running for class election, *every year*, but because I am not the most popular girl, I never win. It's always a close vote - 60% to 40% in 9th grade, 53% to 47% in 10 grade, and 55% to 45% this year.

Oh, and for anyone who was wondering about my SAT, I did finally get my score. I was able to pass with 1510/1600, and I was quite happy with that. But my happiness about that is kind of dampened by my rejection into NHS, for the second time.

My hair is also feeling like crap today. I might have OD-ed on the oils and things. It is overconditioned, but not as much as before, and also feels kind of dry and crunchy. It is hair that I just don't want to touch; even morning combing feels disgusting. I am shedding a lot. This is the second bad-hair week in a row. I am starting to get sick of it, and just want to chop the whole mess off.

What a horrible day I'm having! I am not looking forward to going back to my AP Chem review. Maybe I'll go practise some piano to cheer me up...

Love,
~*Leia*~

It's finally hair-washing day!

April 15 2005, 6:34 PM

Today I am going to use a clarifying recipe on my hair. It has been in need of clarifying for 2 weeks now, and I just haven't had the chance to do it! After washing that out, I am going to deep condition with Lush Arabian Bright conditioner, overnight. I can't wait - that is one of my favorite conditioners!

My computer has had no internet since Tuesday! It has been awful. I have been working on my mother's computer, but none of my documents are here, so it is really difficult. The internet guy, who I have been calling since Wednesday, agreed to come Saturday (tomorrow!) so hopefully it will work then. I miss my computer!

I'm off to put the ACV mixture in my hair, then bellydance, rinse my hair, and deep condition. Then I'll work on my piano essay. I'm getting so much done this weekend! Yay!

Love,

My computer works!

April 16 2005, 5:00 PM

I've had an awesome day - an awesome weekend, in fact! And my internet on my computer works again! JOY!!! I'm so happy! And I finally have Windows XP rather than 2000, so I don't feel like I have a dinosaur for a computer anymore .

Thursday:
After school I came home, relaxed, and studied. I had my hair in a braid all day because I was wearing a salwar kameez for Bengali New Year, and the braid seemed to fit the clothes. At 6 I went over to my friend's house to practise a piano duet that we are performing together next month. Then we went straight from there to another friend's house to watch a movie. I did my hair in a french braid - that is the easiest, most comfortable style when I am going to be lying down. It's better than leaving my hair down because there is less damage and my hair moves in one mass rather than having bits and pieces to deal with everywhere. We watched "Serving Sara" which was a cute movie, and then we went to Bella Italia where I had a great pasta for dinner. I got home at 10.30 or 11, studied some AP Chemistry, and had a nice long sleep!

Friday:
A little more hectic of a day, but nothing I can't handle . I left my house at 11 for piano class. At 12.30, I went straight from piano class to school, where we had an AP Chem study group (we have a test on Monday on oxidation-reduction reactions!) Then, straight after that, I had to go to our school theatre for talent show auditions. I am accompanying 3 of my male friends who are singing "You Raise Me Up" - Esther is playing the piano accompaniment, while I am doing the violin. I got home at around 4, bellydanced, studied, and did my hair.

I boiled 3/4 cup of ACV with a pinch of cinnamon and a couple of teaspoons of espresso. When it had cooled, I mixed in an egg and a drop of cedarwood EO. It didn't change the scent, but I used it more for its goodness than its smell. I piled that onto my dry hair, put on a couple of shower caps (this is a very drippy mixture!) and left it on while I bellydanced. I washed it out in my shower later, but didn't shampoo or condition. After squeezing all of the water out, I put a veeeeery thin coating of Lush Arabian Bright on my length and ends. I was SICK of two weeks of overconditioned hair. My hair just cannot handle too much conditioner. I put on enough to barely coat the hair, and after I was done, it looked like I just had wet hair with nothing on it. I think that is the way I will have to use conditioner from now on, rather than putting on handfuls at a time . Hey, it's more economical this way, even if I do have to learn a new washing method!

I left that on overnight, and rinsed out this morning. Even though it was washed 8 hours ago, it still hasn't dried because I had to put it up damp when I went out to teach Saturday School. I came home an hour ago and took it down to teach my two piano students, and it still hasn't quite dried. I am HOPING that it isn't overconditioned this time.

After my 3 students today (2 piano and 1 vocal) I am going to take a teaching break and do some studying . I am going to review a little more for my AP Chem test. I think I'll review bonding today - that was one chapter I didn't have difficulty with learning, so I'm hoping reviewing won't be too difficult either. Then I'll relax a little - goodness knows I need it! - and take my "pretty bath" with all my face masks and other fun things.

Whew! This was a long entry. But it's so nice to be back typing on MY keyboard, on MY computer! YAYYYY!

Love,

A couple of pictures from today...

April 17 2005, 10:23 PM

My hair is feeling AMAZING from my last wash, so I just had to take pictures today! The first one is from this morning; I hadn't properly combed it so it's a bit thinner and sticking together.

The second picture is from just a few minutes ago, all combed out. It's SO incredibly soft! It has never been this soft before! I love it! I can't keep my hands off of it!

Slowly creeping down to classic length!

Love,

I've had a great week!

April 21 2005, 6:26 PM

This week has been fantastic in all aspects - education, piano, violin, and even hair! This was the first full week of school I have had since before going to Malaysia. After coming back, I had 1 day of school, then I went to Germany. After Germany, there were 3 days of school, then spring break. After spring break, there were 3 days of school, then weekend. The next week was 4 days because of parent teacher conferences, and then the next week was this week - a full week. It has been long, but fantastic!

My friend Esther and I are playing two piano duets by Brahms - hungarian dances. We have been practising every day for the past 2-3 days, and her piano teacher heard us and said it was going really well. I have to work on maneuvering my hands around hers and still playing the notes right, because it is a 4-hand 1-piano duet, and it's really difficult, even though the pieces are easy! We have to memorize them, which will be difficult because the concert is really soon.

My other piano pieces haven't been going too well because of my wrist problems and my lack of time to practise. I just have so much work and I'm usually not at home unless I'm sleeping! After the second week of May when I have my last AP exam and I'm not filming anymore, I will hopefully have more time to relax and practise. I'm lucky because I'll have most of May and all of June, plus a couple of weeks of July until my exam. I really hope this is my distinction year! I have to get that distinction, otherwise I don't know if universities will want me!

I'm also playing the violin in the talent show tomorrow. I'm accompanying a few of my friends, and I have a couple of solos in the song. It has been going really well! I helped the boys decide, based on their voices and range capabilities, what part of the song each of them should sing (they don't want to harmonize, because they said that the type of song they are singing doesn't sound good with harmonies, and I agree). They are sounding really fantastic. I am so lucky that I am able to be around such talented people!

My hair has been behaving like a treasure all week! I am so happy with it. I was contemplating cutting off 3-4", but now, no way! I could have left it down all week - there is no frizz nor a tangle in sight, no greasiness, and NO OVERCONDITIONED LENGTH!! For the first time in 2 weeks! I did leave it down for a couple of days, but it always had to go up after a few hours because the weather is getting warmer and all of this hair really heats me up, unless it's in a nice updo! I have to re-learn some of my updos because my hair is getting longer (almost 37"! Yay!) and I want to get away from my every day swirly bun.

Also, my AP exam prep has been going extremely well. I'm getting a lot more practise AP Chemistry questions right than I thought I would. I was seriously expecting to get a 2 or a 3 (hahaha) but now I think a 4 or a 5 is not too far out of reach! In my last AP English Language mock, I got a 4, so I was really pleased. I don't think my English is too bad , and hopefully I'll be able to get a 5 on the real exam, since the mock was 4 months ago.

Now that I've finished this long, boring post, I am off to practise some piano (I am listening to a GREAT recording of Beethoven's "Pathetique" sonata and it is inspiring me to play!)

Love,

Henna Conditioner last night...

April 23 2005, 7:09 PM

Last night I used a henna conditioner that I used a couple of months ago. That's three consecutive months using henna! Only one of them was for color, though - last night was for conditioning and protein. My hair feels great, even though it's not completely dry. I let it dry down all day, even when I had to go out. It was really humid and I got some pretty curls, but they all went away when I combed it a few minutes ago. It is still wavier than usual, though .

My ends were quite dry after the henna conditioner, so I slathered a ton of almond oil and shea butter on. One bit got too much and that part was really curly . My ends feel much better now, though.

And before I end this entry, here is a picture I snapped a few minutes ago! Not long now till classic length! Yay!

My internet is up and running again!

April 26 2005, 7:36 AM

Last night, there was a huge storm and my internet didn't work all afternoon. I'm so glad it's working again! I feel so detached without my internet, lol!

I have taken two mock AP Chemistry exams so far. I always thought I would get a 2 or a 3 on this because I am so bad at chemistry, but I was really surprised by the results! On the first mock, which was simply multiple choice, I got a 5! On the second mock, which was multiple choice AND free response, I got a high 4/low 5. I certainly hope I can get those kinds of scores on the real thing!

Yesterday, I wore my hair in a hair knot, which gave me a ponytail up to the bottom of my neck. I got 3 different reactions:

1. My close friends have seen similar styles, and thought it was cute short for a day.

2. Some people who don't know me very well had thought I had cut it and were appalled!

3. The rest of the people thought my hair looked great at that length and spent the day trying to convince me and others that I should cut my hair.

I was really upset by the last one. I have never got those kinds of comments before, and then suddenly all day long I had people telling me that I should cut it. It really isn't any of their business! But I won't let that bother me .

Anyway, I am so behind on the Loom, I have to go check up and see what's going on!

Love,

Deep conditioned last night!

April 30 2005, 10:07 AM

Mum and I deep conditioned together. It was my deep conditioning night anyway, and she said, "Do you want to put something in my hair tonight?" Since I am always dying to fiddle with her hair and she never lets me, of course I was very excited to deep condition together! This is the mixture I made:

- John Frieda Beach Blonde Kelp Help
- Proactiv protein drops
- olive oil
- John Frieda Miracle Masque
- shea butter
- rosemary EO
- honey

There are no measurements because I whipped this up in my bathroom without a spoon. Mum left her hair dye bowl in there (sometimes she touches up her grey roots in my bathroom) so I mixed everything in there. I wanted to heat the mixture up, but it was in a plastic bowl so I couldn't put it in the microwave. Instead, I filled my sink with warm water and put the bowl in that. It heated up the mixture nicely so that when I mixed it with a spoon, everything mushed together.

It ended up being VERY little mixture, but I know that my hair gets overconditioned with the tiniest bit of conditioning, so I had to be careful. Mum's hair is about 20" long, and mine is almost double that, but we used about the same amount of the mixture. That is how little conditioner I have to use to avoid the greasiness!

I wet my hair and applied the lovely smelling goop to my length. I have to put so little that the color of the mixture isn't even apparent in my hair and it just looks like my hair is wet. I topped it off with a pretty blue shower cap and my pink heat cap as I watched tv in my mum's room. She sat below the sofa and I massaged her scalp and put the rest of the mixture into her dry hair. She combed it in and will wash it out this morning, so I am waiting for the results to see how her hair handled it!

This morning, I was scared of having to live another week with gross, overconditioned hair, so after rinsing the mixture out, I dunked my hair in a pretty strong ACV mixture. While that soaked in, I shampooed my scalp (yes, with my favorite Body Shop Honey Moisturizing shampoo!) and then rinsed everything out together. It dried in a towel for an hour while I practised piano, then I let it dry for a few minutes before measuring.

I can't wait to see the results! I hope my hair will turn out presentable!

Love,
