This year is just whizzing by! I hardly have time to update my journal anymore!
School is busier than ever, but I am really happy. For once I am actually content with my grades - I don't have to take math or science so I am finally excelling in every class! Out of the 7 classes I am taking, I absolutely adore 6 of them. The seventh one is mandatory for each senior, so while I don't enjoy it much, there's nothing much I can do about it really!
Piano is going alright... I don't have much more than 90 minutes to practise a day, which is basically just going through each piece, so not really practising. Ideally I would like 3-6 hours, but I do have to do homework, too! By the time 8 PM rolls around I am exhausted and can't do any work. Right now my schedule is:
6.00-7.22 am: Wake up, get ready for school, come online to catch up with the Loom, etc
7.45 am-3.10 pm: School
3.20-4.00 pm: relax, have a snack
4-4.35 pm: practise piano (first half of November recital pieces)
4.35-7 pm: do homework
7-8 pm: practise piano (second half of November recital pieces)
8.15-8.30 pm: dinner with family
8.30-9.30 pm: relax till bedtime
It is working out well so far, except for the limited piano practise time. Two out of the five weekdays I have music classes for 1.5 hours (piano/violin) and my weekends are FULL. Fridays I have piano class in the morning and work on homework all day. Saturdays I have piano class in the morning and teach piano all day. SO BUSY! However, I only have 5 days left of school till OCTOBER BREAK, which is 9 full days of relaxation and tons of time to practise piano.
Today I was sick . I think it is all the stress getting to me. I had to lie in bed all day, cancel my piano class and all my lessons with my students, and the only thing I've managed to eat all day were a few pieces of pineapple and a ton of Polo mints (for some reason I have been craving mints; maybe it has to do with the nausea). I was nauseous all evening yesterday, and it has continued today, with an upset tummy as well. So I was in bed, watching tv and napping, and I managed to do some homework as well. The worst thing is that my school's volleyball finals with competing international schools was today, and I didn't get a chance to go out and support our atheletes! I am sure we won, but I love to watch our finals though I am not much of a sports fan myself.
Oh, last night I glopped some of my kitchen conditioner on my hair (scented with lavender and rosemary eo's), rinsed this morning, and did an ACV rinse as well. Though the water was freezing cold, I still seem to have some egg bits stuck in my hair. It is really wavy, borderline 2c, and though I haven't combed it yet it looks pretty good, though weighed down a little with all the conditioning. I measured today and got 40.3" which is pretty good considered I trimmed a little this month.
Alright, I am feeling better now so I am off to practise some piano! Yay!

I've had a depressing month, and I'm so glad to have a reprieve from it all. I was excruciatingly ill the past week; I had some sort of stomach virus from drinking unclean water. There was a contamination, and because I brush my teeth with tap water, I got violently sick, as well as a bunch of other people. It was constant nausea, stomach ache, fever, headache, upset stomach, and complete loss of appetite. I lost 2 kgs! I'm down to 46.2 kgs now (I think that's something like 101.6 lbs). It's still really hard to eat, because my stomach shrinks easily, so I'm having to build everything up again. PLUS, I had my period on top of that, so I had stomach cramps, lower backache, and all the rest of the grossness that goes along with that. Whew! But it's finally over!
I have a 9-day break, so I'm taking the first couple of days lightly, relaxing and recovering. Then I'm going to work really hard this week and catch up on all the work I missed. I still went to school when I was sick, but I didn't do my work properly and missed out on a lot of assignments that I usually do in advance, so I'll have to do all of that.
My hair on the other hand is doing wonderfully. It's getting really long, and right now it's CLEAN and in really pretty spiral curls because it was really humid today. Yesterday I oiled it with lavender oil and bhringraj oil, then put on a herbal mixture (1 tbsp each of shikakai, amla, aritha, sandalwood, bhringraj, and "henna conditioner") and left it overnight, before rinsing this morning. Then I washed my scalp with the Body Shop honey shampoo. It's still drying, and it is feeling great .
Alright, off to catch up on the other long hair sites!

It was taken 2 days after my herbal wash (with a pre-oiling plus some henna added to the herbal mix). I'm so close to classic length! Yay! My hair is already past classic when it is wet, but I am not counting that, because it shrinks a LOT when it's dry. A few more months, and maybe I'll be at dry classic length!

I think it is going to turn out really badly on my hair... it is drying and it feels really sticky and overconditioned. Anyway, this is what I did:
I got a chunk of shea butter, a drop of rosemary, a tablespoon of honey, a tablespoon of espresso, a dash of olive oil, and some cinnamon. I put it on the stove and heated it up till it was nicely mixed, and then applied it on my length. I left it overnight, rinsed it in the morning, did an ACV rinse, and shampooed the whole length twice with Honey Moisturiznig Shampoo. I will probably have to wash my hair again . It's okay, though, because I had a month of good hair days, so I guess I deserve to have a bad one!

Haha. My hair looks really wet and clumpy! Yesterday, before I combed it, Mum said it looked like I was curling it and setting it in gel. But now that it has been combed out and the curls are gone, it just looks... wet and thin. It's okay, though; I don't have time to wash it, so I will just say it is a week-long deep conditioning treatment! I just have to make sure to keep my hair in buns and braids all week and I should be fine!
Now, for some reason, every time I click "Formatted Text Signature" to change my "last updated" date, it won't open. How oddly confusing. Maybe it's another Net54 bug!
Anyway, I am off to school. No more October break! But I am well-rested and ready to work!

I've actually been able to live with gross hair for a week!
October 21 2005, 11:22 AM
It wasn't that difficult, actually, because I've been so busy doing other things that up goes my hair in the morning and it stays that way all day and all night. Last night I managed to get my hair in a braid. It's really easy to comb through when it's greasy all over .
A bit off topic:
I got my report card yesterday! I thought I had been doing better in school because I don't have to waste time doing subjects I'm not good at, and my report card proved that! I am really happy, and I called up my Dad in Vancouver to tell him . My lowest grade was A-! Yay!
Aaand my solo piano recital (ahhhh) is on November 18. Sigh.
I get to wash my hair tonight! Finally!

First, a couple of greasy hair photos from last week...
This one is just a huge bun. I think I was trying for a french twist or something, hahaha, huge failure that was!
And this one is my swirly bun with a bit sticking out at the bottom. I often twisted this bottom bit up to stick out at the top of my head and a lot of people said it looked like there was gel in my hair! Both of these pictures were taken on Wednesday the 19th, when I was going out to a party with my mum (to see my grandad's brother's new apartment) and had to do a hairstyle FAST. I ended up doing the one below.
Next is from the day I had to take school pictures. I had curled my hair the night before by misting it down and then putting in Wrap, Snap & Go curlers. I just wanted volume; I didn't know it would come out THIS curly! And now, 3 days later, and after LOTS of combing, there are still some curls hanging at the bottom.
This photo is what the curls looked like from the back. Not as curly, because the greasy top layer didn't curl well, but I wore it half up so the curls from the sides came in the back . This is before any combing whatsoever, by hand or by comb. And look how it shortens my length up to tailbone!
And this is the next day. I slept with it loose over my pillow (didn't have time to braid it!) and combed it out in the morning. Still lots of curls!
My hair has behaving well all week. I am thinking of using Arabian Bright on it tonight! I love that conditioner. I hope it turns out well!
