The exact law reads:

Section 3004

It is unlawful for any person, other than the owner, person
in possession of the premises, or a person having the express
permission of the owner or person in possession of the premises, to
hunt or to discharge while hunting, any firearm or other deadly
weapon within 150 yards of any occupied dwelling house, residence, or
other building or any barn or other outbuilding used in connection
therewith. The 150-yard area is a "safety zone."

So just the act of hunting (no shots fired by any sort of anything) is a bust. And using an airgun is still a 'deadly weapon' in the code, busted again.

FWIW, it's not even legal to set a trap in the "safety zone" (see the trapping rules if interested).

In a similar manner it is definitely illegal to shoot across a road.....

IMO, we need to be very careful with our facts and advice in such areas. On both ends, both the advice we give and that we get.
