Well, the best advice I know to give you on what is the best pellets is to buy a few o feach kind and see what your air rifle likes best!LOL! I know that sounds like a wise guy answer but, it really is the best way to go.
For me, I use the pointed pellets for anything over about 30 meters and the flat heads for anythingcloser than that. For MY Air Rifle, I get the best accuracy ad take down power doing that. A lot of people swear by the domed kind but, I haven't had as good a results with them as a lot of others have.
If you're looking to spend around a hundred bucks, I like the Daisy Powerline 1000. Of course, you being in Canada, there are FPS retrictions as you mentioned so, the DPL 1000 might not be the thing for you. There are a number of relatively good rifles you can pick up for around a hundred or less though. You might come out ahead to check out what they have at WalMart first. Afterwards, you can always look at the more expensive rifles if your interest grows, and I am pretty sure that it will!
