Hello all

by (Login RKeithS)

I have just found this site, and as I am contemplating squirrell and rabbit hunting with my air rifle this fall I thought I might stop in and pick a few brains.

I have hunted with single shot rifles, only (by choice), for the past 8 years. It has become too easy, so last year I bought a .32 cal muzzleloading rifle, and my first "adult" air rifle.

The air rifle is a Beeman RS2 with the option of switching caliber between .177, and .22. A big step up from the old crossman 760 pump gun I had last. So the old debate of slow and heavy, or light and fast projectile has been blowing through my mind. Without a chronograph I can only use the advertised velocities to aproximate any energy differences, and shoot both calibers into different media to try to make an educated guess for effictive maximun range of the pellet (well further than the shooters max. effective range I assure you.)

Has anyone here had any experience with this model Beeman?
I wanted it for dual pest control (starlings in spring and summer, raccoons, and 'possums in the fall and winter)

Any way this is why I am here, hopefully I'll be able to help someone else in the future.

Keith
