Perhaps I was a bit harsh in my response, but it seems as though we tend to see more and more folks shooting things 'just because'. With the current social climate, it's best that we as hunters be legal and ethical in everything we do.
My best suggestion is to read up on the local regs concerning beaver. Even if they are being a nuisance, it may be unlawful to take them save for under certain circumstances. Just research and use your best judgment.
I'd still say that the Stoeger is quite a bit under powered for such game... even when getting that close. Those critters have a small kill zone and believe it or not, the close in shots are sometimes the hardest!
