No, they aint the end all, and be all of guitar amps. Seems like old tube Fenders and Marshalls are going to be it for a long time to come. If you think, let's say from 70 to now, thats 30 some odd years of making em and they aint where they picked up at yet, old tube tech stuff, is where they started I believe. But has tube amps gotten that much better ? The high gain stuff has come on, the Mesa'a and others of that ilk, but still many dont like the buzzy high gain stuff and still prefer the natural drive of a old amp on the dime. I think thats why there are so many low watt tube amps being made now, more drive less volume. Like I say every amp has a place somewhere from a clean S/S to a meltdown tube combo, unless of course you only got one sound in your head and thats all you need. But what I got is what I wanted something light and small and a decent sound, not great decent. I wonder if tube production had stopped what the S/S stuff would sound like now, given if they had the want to make a digital S/S amp that could fill the shoes of a 1987 or a DR ?
